The cicadas are coming in loud and clear.
Whatever you said...everyone knows you are a lying jerk. That's a bold assertion. Point out where you think I lied. Well?

COSTCO is the place to start. They will do a free test and tell you if they can help or not. If so, figure to spend $1500-1600 for a pair of good hearing aids. They are guaranteed against loss for 2 years and when I lost one of mine after 1 1/2 years it was a snap to replace it. They will clean them for you while you shop, retest whenever you think your hearing might have changed (I get a new test every year) and recalibrate the settings so they work well for you for no cost.
The ones I have can be reset for the situation I'm in - everyday conversation, listening to music, lots of background noise, etc. You can push a button on the aid or use your phone to change settings.
I've talked to guys who have had their own hearing aid store - they absolutely can't match COSTCO prices, and COSTCO's service is outstanding. Based on my Mom’s experience I’d say that’s spot on. Costco is the first place I’d go if I needed hearing aids.

Huh? Oh - it sucks! There is a reason they call them hearing "aids" and not "cures"! Never be 100% again, but I can hear a LOT better with them. Not OTC, in my case - too much damage. I'm on my second set and I'm sure most here are already aware but if you qualify (were around loud noise) the VA supplies free hearing aids and batteries.....might be worth checking into if you're a vet.

Had the test done at a local hearing center a couple years ago, at the recommendation of an ENT doctor. Constant tinnitus, 40 percent loss of high frequencies in one ear, 25 percent loss in the other ear.
They wanted like 5,000 dollars for a set of hearing aids. Screw that.

Don't get your hopes up, they have this little thing called a 'financial assessment' ...chart available online. Basically it means if you worked hard, put a few acorns in the log for your end days...you don't get no free stuff...or even co-pay stuff. But that's ok, I'll row my own boat. But it would be nice if they had something like a group buy co-op thing where you could use the VA to get a good price. The Injuns have a deal like that for buying new cars.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Wife thinks I need some, I don't. She will say something while in the kitchen and facing away from me. She, as do her brothers, mumble a bunch. I hear things outside that she doesn't or can't. I hear the dogs barking outside from inside the house, she doesn't.
I try to gently remind her that she is the one who turns up the TV volume all the time. I have tinnitus pretty bad, but I hear all the audio ranges well, she doesn't, mostly my voice range though. I do wish I had worn muffs for shooting 50 years ago. LOL! Same story here, my wife doesn't speak loud in the first place then where she is talking to me, she is looking in an opposite direction and whispering and expects me to hear her, all the while she knows my hearing sucks! Because of this I was forced to say "Parden Me" all day long. As you said "I try to gently remind her", but then I finally said f-it and told her that if she does not raise her voice and look at me when she is talking, I am going to IGNOR HER! So now I just ignore her if she is not talking to me in a volume that I can here and in my direction. Saying "Pardon Me" after every sentence was a pain in the butt. I am happy I put my foot down and finally took a stance. I sure wish they found a cure for Tinnitus, the sound I have to deal with sounds like hundreds of sparrows chirping at a distance 24/7, 365 days a year, without relief.

I went to 2 doctors that specialized in hearing loss. After thousands of dollars of tests both told me that my hearing loss wasn't due to loud noises but was more likely a hereditary problem. They said that hearing the sound wasn't a problem, but that it was a problem of interpretation. They said that hearing aids wouldn't help me at all and not to let any hearing aid specialist sell me any.

I have a set ordered through the VA. You are right completely free. My audiologist sent approval request and the VA approved it. The top of the line is what they ordered for me because of the severe tinnitus. Thanks man I will listen to them!
I grew up on a skeet and trap range, where I was the "Pull Guy" for a lot of the time thousands of rounds, my father was a Director of the Club. Now I suffer from hearing loss I was told that certain frequencies I have minimal and very poor hearing. Women talking is undiscernible, which may be a blessing. lol
What is really ANNOYING is the Tinnitus I suffer from; the constant buzzing is a complete pain in the azz! Have not been able to find a solution/cure for that.
Cheers ~ They have the type of hearing aids that can filter in white noise, brown noise, waves/water sounds to cover up the ringing. Quite a relief for me I’ve been experiencing tinnitus for 15-20 years.

Have a great day ~ Darren Darren, the brand and model is Signia 7 AX The price through the Audiologist was approximately $6000 Iirc but that may also include the hearing test and follow up appt too but I’m getting them through the VA so that price is likely different. I’m sure you could also order directly (Much cheaper) and fine tune them via Bluetooth.
