I have a BPS that has the sticky LimbSaver on it. I want to replace it, and not sure about another LS pad...do the current production ones get gummy and sticky? They just seem the most widely available, but I am open to other options.
FWIW, it is a wood-stocked Browning BPS 12 gauge.

I’ve used the newer Airtech ( or something ) pads. Don’t seem to get sticky.
Fug the old style. Pulled the carpet off the bottom of my safe..

I have four limb saver pads on custom rifles. They will send you replaces message to or at least they told me that would. I just hate to have to grind pads on custom stocks I built. I’ll get around to it someday.
Thanks, Billy

Had sticky problems with them yrs ago. Got one on a 220, a 390, and a 935. Put alot of them on other guns also.
If ya get oil on them they had issues. And storage reaction with them in safes on floor surfaces is a issue with them many have had. I keep my guns in cases in a big ole cabinet laying down in the mancave so the safe storage thing is something I have not experienced.
I clean em with a light scrub with a dry tooth brush. They still get leaves and small particles of debris on if ya lean a gun up against a tree or walking the brush. And they do seem to soak up rain. I kinda squeeze clean em then to suck up moisture with a rag then back at the house and will leave the gun out or leave the buttstock sticking out of the case for a day or 2 for peice of mind they have dried out. I like the little bit of extra length of pull they give and the recoil absorption. They also seem to help me get my cheek to stock weld back on the rise of stock a little and not get cheek slap on some semi auto SG,s and that is one of the design features they say about the pad also but not about the added part about the length of pull increase I like about them. They mention less muzzle rise due to design.
Use em in conjunction with syn stock gun stuffed with wally world bags and fishing sinkers to get recoil down more and get center of balance down under the receiver for carry. Syn stock guns with a muzzle forward heavy feel just seem strange to me.
Been doing it for years, what works for me.
Others MMV.

I have never tried the airsoft models . They just look strange to me and clash with lines and appearance. But that's just me.

I had an old one basically melt on my Win 1200 a long time ago, but the one I put on my 870 slug gun a few years ago hasn't deteriorated at all so far.
Now that I've said that it will be stuck to the safe floor next time I go to pull it out of there 🙄

Is there anything you can treat them with to eliminate the stickiness?

Is there anything you can treat them with to eliminate the stickiness? Mine deformed and melted into the carpeted safe floor. So, in my case, no. The new one is different. Not quite as squishy, but not melting or sticky.

Is there anything you can treat them with to eliminate the stickiness? I have two rifles that have limbsavers. Both are Win model 70s and both are chambered to the .338 Win. mag. I just wrapped them with masking tape. keeps the goo off the bottom of the safe. One of these years I'll replace them with Decelerators. PJ
