Where can I get some rat bait that works? The Viktor bait I bought from Lowes is just food for the rat in my yard.

I've had good results from the Tomcat brand bait that I from Tractor Supply (also available on Amazon). I rotate between the Bromethalin based bait (red packaging) and the Diphacinone based bait (green packaging).

I've used the pellets and the chunks. Some rodents, like chipmunks, will carry the pellets off and store them away without immediately ingesting enough to kill. If that gets to be a problem I get the chunks, and use the hole in the middle to nail the bait to a board. This forces then to chew pieces off, and cuts down on the bait disappearing. It also seems to force them to swallow enough to kill them.

Have you actually READ the whole label?

Does have a statement like this:

That is what bait typically is, is food.

Either that or something simulating estrus or rival male presence.

Maybe your problem is bigger than you perceive and you have a lot of rodents to feed

Keep offering the bait

Final worked the best for me. You can buy it without a license, but it has to be in large quantities. Uses brodifacoum, rather than the diphacinone that the chesper stuff uses. It also contains a LOT of grain, so the rats/mice like to eat it, as opposed to others that seem like one solid block of wax...

The bromethalin baits work well, too, bat that is a neuro agent, rather than an anticoagulant. If your dog ingests a lot of it, there is no reversal agent available to save their life..

A couple outside cats fed only ½cup of cat food a day keeps them hungry enough to hunt. I have one cat (outside only, I can't abide a cat in the house) and she is kills rats, mice, moles, squirrels, rabbits, birds...

The problem with baits is they crawl off to die, oftentimes inside the walls or attic. Also, most dogs will eat rat bait and if you don't keep vitamin K on hand they can die as well.

Yep, its Bromethalin. The rat has eaten 5 blocks in the past 2 weeks. I think he likes it. He avoids the traps like they are the plague. He is resistant to bromethalin.

Vitamin K antidote for coags

Peroxide lavage if you catch a pet eating it.

The neuro baits are scary, cause the brain stem to swell. Can catch it fast with corticosteroids but you better be quick. Lavage also if you catch a dog with a toss pack

Lavage: a take a plastic bottle of peroxide and squeeze into a dog’s throat. Within 2 mins, all stomach contents with foam and dog will puke

Same label should be on fast food.

5 gallon plastic bucket with some water in the bottom and a few cups of cracked corn chicken feed. Add a little sugar or molasses. Rats can't resist the smell of fermenting corn. They climb in and gorge themselves, and either drown or wear themselves out trying to climb the slick sides. No poisons, just the rat's greedy appetite.

Three years ago my GSD swallowed two rat bait blocks. We did the hydrogen peroxide trick on him.

Thanks, I may try that. The rat was out in the daytime eating more bait blocks! However I think I gave him some Pb poisoning at 850 fps. I hope it hit him in a fatal spot.

I change my oil and and a several pans slid back under my old mopar. Mice climb right into those pans.

Have another square bin that catches condensate water from my deer cooler. Mice just right into that. 2-3 a week during deer season.
