2) Kimber Montana with VXIII 1.75-6 6lbs 6.1ounces talley 1pc. mts

I have the same two rifles. 3.5-10 on them both though. Both shoot well.

Yup.

Three M700 Mtn rifles in 270.
Two are “faux” mtn rifles with custom skinny bbls, one is a 1993 ADL Mtn rifle. MPI, EDGE, and current Bansner stocks respectively. All three have various generations of Leupold 2.5-8’s.

All three weigh in about 6lbs 13ozs.

Also have a 308 (6lbs 13 ozs) and a 30-06 AI (6lbs 10ozs) M700 Mtn rifles.

270 tikka T3 with Zeiss 3-9x42.....7 lbs

Not bad for a $499 rifle when I bought it 14 years ago. Shoots lights out as well

Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field

Trystan,
You are correct. I would save even more and get a Fullfield II.
The Tikka T3 with fluted barrel is really excellent.

I'm thinking about a fullfield ll and a carbon fiber barrel as well this coming spring when I get back from working in southern california. I have a hunt planned next year that is fairly difficult on the hiking end so looking to shed a few more lbs off the 270

Let us know how that works out with the cf barrel.

I love 270's... in my pursuit of the perfect 270, I ended up with a Rem Ti , it was too much of a good thing, now my 270's weight 7.5 to 8lbs
My current ultralight is in 260 Rem and that seems like a better match

If you are considering the Proof CF barrel, they are very good but you won’t save any weight over the factory fluted barrel.
Usually the factory barrel is very accurate.

Add 2 pounds and I think you hit the sweet spot

270 Ridgeline is exactly 9lbs at pictured.

6.5 CM Montana is 7.8lbs as pictured.

Both with 3 in belly. My primary killing rifles. Not screwing around with leupold and tally comes with a weight penalty but it’s worth every ounce.

700 KS 270 barreled action in a Rimrock stock with Leupold 2.5x8 on top. 7 lbs 5 oz with HS Gen1 DBM and mag. 7 lbs with factory BDL BM. Just about perfect, for me...

I’ve got a 1st Gen stainless ADL Mtn Rifle, waiting to be fitted in a Brown….not sure where it’ll finish, but somewhere around 6#, before scoping.

That is exactly what I was considering. I have have been trying to find the advertised weights but hadn't found it yet. Thanks for the info there's no way I'll be swapping this barrel if it's the same weight

My 1948 FN is kind of a pig, well over 9lbs with it’s beefy original barrel and the B&C stock with bedding block. That’s okay; I have other light stuff.

My Morton Custom FN is lighter, but is being traded off to a relative that really likes schnabels.

Metal buttplate. Ouch! Old farts can’t take the beatings they used to could.

That one’s a peach, regardless. Lucky you.
