I loved that show. His camera flash saved his life several times each show.

That show was a good introduction to Darren Mcgavin, and how good a character actor he was. I believe he was best as Ralphie’s father in “Christmas Story”.. I've always thought that he had a tremendous amount of fun playing that role.

I guess I watched those when I was 8 or 10 years old. Pretty scary stuff for a second grader. Naturally I watched reruns as a teen, and I thought they were classic entertainment with great acting. I thought the format made it seem that the TV watcher was in Kolchak's shoes.

Liked the show a lot. Liked Darin in Christmas story and all other shows he was in. 1973, was in the Navy and in transit to a ship in the Med, we were in Madrid awaiting a plane to Rota, and Darin was there with his entourage. He came over and talked with us. He was friendly and outgoing. Thought that was cool.

I loved it as a kid. Couldn't wait to watch each episode. I dvr episodes now on Dish Network channel 247 . According to Wickepedia he was a staunch liberal. So shame on all of us for watching that show...🤣

There were two Darren McGavin made for tv movies called The Night Stalker and the Night Strangler before Kolchak.
That guy has been in a lot of movies. Was he the Captain on Love Boat? just asking That was his brother Daryll.

Night Stalker was a great show. It was kind of the X Files of its day.
