Friend of mine, this moose season.
Tiny Bull Moose 1.5 old.
Rem 700 SPS Stainless
300 WSM
Fusion 150 Grain
125 yards
Above the animal, quartering away.
Entrance top of back, above ribs
Exited 2-4 inches below spine on other side.
I thought it would have exitedlower on the animal, perhaps the spine redirected it.
Animal dropped, lost movement in hind limbs, still moving with fron legs.
Hunter realized this as soon as he approached and shot quicky into the skull to finish quickly.

Last year; 30'06, 150 gr load, whitetail buck, 45 yards from a tree stand. Almost head on, but slight quartering angle. Bullet entered just beside the near shoulder and exited low at the back of the rib cage on the opposite side; straight pass through. He stumbled 20 yards and dropped. It appeared to perform perfectly upon dressing the buck out.

At the range, that load made 100 yd groups ranging from .75-1" depending on me and the day from a Weatherby Vanguard.

There have been a couple similar threads, one recent one in the Deer Hunting forum, I think. Do a search for more info.

Buddy of mine killed a dandy interior Grizzly bear this year that squared over 8ft and had a 25"+ head on it. I asked him what he was shooting and he said Federal Fusion ammo. I about chit laughing, but hey it got the job done.

The 300 Winchester 180 Fusion is some of the most accurate factory ammo that I have seen.
It groups about 1.5 inches for three shots at 200 yards with both my push feed XTR Winchester and my Vanguard Deluxe.

It clubbed my last moose 63" and my last caribou as well.
It is great stuff and cheap. I wish they would make it in 375H&H because I think it would sell pretty well.

Sincerely,

Thomas

I've killed a truck load of hogs & deer, a few coyotes, a bobcat & a bunch of paper with them and they have performed well without exception and have been very accurate in every rifle I have tried them in.

I've killed a few big hogs, including one around 250lbs that I shot on a downhill angel almost straight on - entered at the neck just in front of the point of the shoulder, traversed 3/4 the length of the hog and exited back by the hip, plowing a few inches of spine along the way. I've shot several deer and hogs through the shoulders with good results. Every deer has exited, and perhaps one big hog did not, but he was a bang flop with both shoulders broken. I have had exits on hogs entering behind the near shoulder and breaking the off side shoulder out over 300 yards. I have used them mostly in 130's and 140's out of a 270 and 7-08 respectively. The 95's also shoot great out of my 243.

I like them...grin.

I've taken three animals with 225grain Fusions this year in my 338wm.

A nice sized black bear (6'3" tip of nose to tip of tail). 1st shot quartering away about 75 yards just under the last rib. He took off for the tree line, just before he disappeared he stopped to look at me at about 125 yards. I put another shot in almost the same spot. He turned around and charged me but only made it about 10 or 20 yards.

When we skinned him out there was'nt much left of his heart and lungs, he was dead on his feet but he just did'nt know it yet.

The second was a nice spike bull moose. Shot was about 50 yards, shot him in the spine, the bullet went through the spine severing it, stayed together and lodged under a rib on the other side. That was impressive, he went down like a sack of potatoes.

The third was a meat buck, double lunged at about 50 yards. Picked the buck up threw him about 6 or 7 feet and he was done. The bullet broke of a peice of rib on the way in, liquified the lungs - they were just goo - and left a slightly larger hole on the way out.

no killing, but I did try the 140 grain Fusion in my 280 Remington, and it shoots real tight. I am confident it will do the job if I get a chance at a deer this month.

Buddy took a spike elk with the 180gr. Fusion out of his 300WSM at about 60yds. 2 shots - first one was a pass through on both lungs and the followup lodged in the far side shoulder area....not recovered by the shooter. Perhaps the butcher will come up with it, if so, I'll post what I can tell.

I used the 165 grain in .308Win. Bang flops on 2 deer and 2 antelope.

In my Remington 7600 the Fusion could shoot as tight groups as my Tikka T3 Lite in 7mm-08 with 140 grain TSX handloads. Couldn't believe it when I 1st saw it!

I dropped an 8 point buck at approximately 40 yds with a 308 shooting the 165 grain Fusion. Dropped the Buck dead in his tracks with a complete pass thru shot. The heart and lungs were vaporized.

I shot a 2 point buck approximately 100 yds and a coyote approximately 250 yds with a 243 shooting the 95 grain Fusion. The buck dropped dead in his tracks with the same results as the previous buck. The coyote was shot in the neck and it almost took its head off.

It's a very accurate bullet and performs well on game. I have never not had a pass thru yet with this bullet. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it an 8.

Anyone used it in a 44 mag yet? I have and uncle with a Ruger Carbine and wonder: 1. how it worked in the bullet weight/cal? and 2. will if function/feed ok?

I dropped a buck this past weekend that weighs a tad over 200 pounds field dressed.

One shot with a .270 130 grain Fusion at about 50 yards.

FWIW, they shoot 1.5" groups out of my Mossberg ATR100 that I got at Wal-Mart for less than $250 a few years ago.

It has also taken a few does over the last two seasons with good results at ranges from 35 yards to 127 yards.

243 Win 95gr. Fusion

1 deer at 120 yds.

1 deer 340 yds. A double lung shot with complete pass through. Deer ran 40 yds. and dropped.

Very effective on both. Shoots 1 MOA at 100 yds.

shot a 1.9" 3 shot group @ 335 yards this afternoon in my 280, Fusion 140 grain. I shot a block of firewood @ 40y and it retained 78% of its weight! smile

Broke both shoulders on this Texas Hill Country buck with 140 grain Fusions out of my Kimber Montana 7-08. Bullet exited, buck was a bang/flop, obviously...grin.

I wondered if someone was going to ping me on that one. Not too consistent am I? Kimber, Kahles, Talleys, Fusions, Leica CRF & Ultravids, Danners, and a Browning hat....grin

I have a couple of their hats and a little zero gravity LED flashlight of theirs which I really like.

Happily inconsistent, I reckon.
