Loads of deer on their feet tonight...could be a sign of nice movement tomorrow. Ready to see if one messes up and swings on by.

It's great to see all the camps filled with hunters! We live here year long and it's quiet until Black Friday when everyone shows up!

Damn! Ya’ll get a late start. The moon is right and the weather good. Should be a good morning if the rut isn’t already over up there. Good luck!

Saw three buck this morning, all together. First ran from thicket to thicket, didn't even get the gun up. Second stopped and before I could get a good look thru the scope he ran back to the third and down over the hill. Saw some does too but wasn't going to shoot a doe down where I was at.
Waiting for dark now, good first day here.

The Pa. opener is a great example of a fine American tradition. I hope y’all have a great day tomorrow! 600,000 + or - Resident PA Deer Hunters plus many thousands other PA “Sportsfolks” should have overwhelmingly voted for Dr Oz instead of not voting or some deciding to vote for Quasimodo. Would have probably made a difference.

This is a freakin hunting thread. Let’s keep it that way and Phuq the idiots! Ben drove all night from South Bend ID to get here this morning and go hunting with me. He saw 6 early on, but never got a shot. He was using that Ruger American in 7.62x39 that I posted about before. We hunted till noon, then went to the gun club, ‘cause I wanted to shoot that gun. I’m pretty impressed with the accuracy, and I’m looking forward to hand loading for it. If you’re a good shot (which he is), and limit yourself to inside 200 yards, it gonna be a deer slayer. I’d prefer something with a little more oomph, but inside its limits, I think it’s a good gun. I’m promised to work tomorrow morning, so Ben and Sara are gonna go see Carol. I’m gonna Hunt Monday, maybe go up on the mountain in the afternoon. You guys that know me know why. It’s been years since I killed a deer up there, but it was The Old Man’s favorite place to hunt. Tuesday morning there’ll be a beer and a cigarette on that Rock. As I said in a previous post, Deer Season here in Pennsylvania was always a much more important day for family, and I’ll do the best I can to carry on that tradition. The Old Man will never be dead as long as I’m alive, and I’m hoping I’ll never be dead as long as Ben’s alive. I must be getting old, but to me now, the traditions seem more important than killing deer. Hope you folks all have a great season, but make sure those youngsters see some deer, and get some shooting. Us dinosaurs are dying out, but the kids will carry on. 7mm

Shot a 7 this morning at 9 in 4E. Was a main frame 8 but had a busted tine. Not big, but meat for the freezer. I was more excited about the fact that I took him with cast bullets in my 358 winchester!
......the occasional hunter wielding a hopelessly inaccurate rifle, living by the fantastical rule that this cartridge can deliver the goods, regardless of shot placement or rifle accuracy. The correct term for this is minute of ego.
