I broke the end on the 16’ cable and need a new one. I could also use a new rod as someone shot it. I called the number on my paper work and some insurance company answered. I tried the web address and that is down also. Is Chrony out of Business? I got it in 2003, and it has been pretty good for me over the years. Ant help is appreciated.
Thank you, Sauerball

Chrony is history.
Small dowels work fine as replacement rods. You might find replacement aluminum rod material at a good hardware store.
As for the cable, you might be able to find a replacement connector at Mauser or DigiKey. Or repair what you have with epoxy and solder.

The cable jack is standard phone end connector, however you can’t use a phone cable due to wiring differences. Also depends on what actually broke, if it’s the retaining tab then a piece of duct tape holds it in just fine. The RJ11 crimp ends are available. Alternative is to call a computer repair shop and see if they would do it for you. Wood dowels as suggested for the rod.

Just be sure to get RJ12 straight, the pin out is the same as a chrony cable. Also I have compared my chrony with an Oehler35P at the same time it was ~5-10 fps difference. I still use it at times for pistol.

I’ve ran Chronys vs M35s 4-5 times, with a number of different rifles, cartridges, and bullets. Depending on light conditions sometimes the difference was small, sometimes the difference was large.
When using screens a 1ft spacing will never give as reliable readings as a 4ft or 6ft spacing. The chrono/counting part is the simple part of a chronograph, the difference is in the screens.
Having said that if the chrono works consistently then it’s good enough to develop safe loads.

If you are careful about choosing your lighting conditions consistently, the Shooting Chrony will give very precise results. I ran the test and math on mine, and found it to be repeatable within a couple of feet per second.
The crystal clock is 12 MHz. At 3000 FPS, a bullet will traverse a 1 foot sensor spacing in .000333 seconds. In that time, you get 3,996 clock counts, about 1 part in 4,000 or .025% resolution, which is plenty.
A longer baseline is good because of the difficult in exactly positioning and aiming the sensors. Ken Oehler sez it's hard to get that much better than effectively 1/8". Double the baseline, and you halve that percentage error.
In the meantime, temptation came my way and I now use a LabRadar. The Chrony now lives with my SIL.

I have several rods and shades if you need some.

Thank you, I ordered and received it. I got the 25’ as my 450bm and 416 Rigby cause problems with it reading, so hopefully the longer cable will help that.
