When the Coyote almost had his tail I thought it was over for him.
My son had an 18lb cat here (Tony), I saved another cat from Tony as Tony was going to kill it and may well have as there was blood dripping from Tonys lips and I never saw the other cat again.
Tony had his tail pulled by the neighbors Rottweiler and broke his back (spine) and we had to put him down, the vet said a cats weakest spot was their tail for that reason.
We had a cat we picked up as a stray when he was a kitten. He wasn't full-on feral but he would've been if we hadn't taken him in. I was the only one he'd give the time of day to, didn't like most people. Spent the first few years of his life in San Antonio, stayed outdoors all the time and was a killing machine.
Anyway, we moved to CO and he had to learn how to deal with the foxes here, we had a bunch in the neighborhood. Right after we moved in I found one of the neighbor's cats in the front yard, guts had been eaten by a fox. Our cat spent a lot of time up in trees and on the roof of the house, and also held his own in more than one scrap with foxes. One time he was on the patio out back underneath an outdoor sofa and a fox was circling, trying to figure out how to get at him. I went out and chased off the fox and he followed it, made the most God-awful sound I ever heard, never heard it again.
Another time he came limping home with puncture marks on his back and shoulder, vet recognized them as a fox bite and fixed him up. Still later when he was around 17-18 he disappeared for a couple of days. My son found a tuft of fox hair on the back porch with a broken cat claw in it, so we were thinking the worst but he showed up, took a trip to the vet, and was OK.
Then when he was 20, the neighbor called, there was half a cat in his back yard. I guess we could've kept him indoors or something but as the saying goes, "he died doing what he loved."
I caught a red fox trailing our Tom cat behind the house three weeks ago, I should have shot it but gave it a pass. The cat didn't seem to worried about it, a yote wouldn't have gotten a pass.

My question is, why didn't the person taking that video help the cat? Were they planning on allowing that house cat to be killed so they could film it?

Resident Tony Gray told FOX Television Stations Group he saw the encounter happen on his porch deck in real-time.Β
"You can hear me bang on the door to scare off the coyote. That's why he ran off," Gray said. "He was a fighter and luckily the coyote was a skittish pup."
The 45-year-old posted the video on social media, writing "Island life... Someone almost lost a cat."

Itβs currently unclear who the cat belongs to or where the cat went to after the incident.
