Just to keep from becoming too big-boring about all the .458 WinMag superiority over all other rifles,
I thought I would try a smaller bore just for kicks.
Hammer Bullets is my new favorite bullet maker. Of course I want to try them in a smaller bore,
which is everything else they make besides .458!
It came to mind that I never got around to finding that GameField Dominator .408-caliber bullet of 300 grains.
It would have to be a hollowpoint monometal with sleek shape to cut the mustard.
The old 300-gr/.408 BattleField Dominator was a solid needle-nose, would not do for deer and varmints and such, inhumane.
Looking at Hammer Bullets led to a discovery of Pittman Muzzleloader bullets in .408-caliber.
I went there to read about the interesting smokeless muzzleloader bullets made for Pittman by Hammer Bullets.
All four weights are gone now, sold out, from the Pittman site: 253-gr, 273-gr, 297-gr, 322-gr.
You can only get the 3 lighter ones now at Hammer: 252-gr, 272-gr, 296-gr.
What is a one grain difference amongst friends anyway?
End of the line for the monometal Hammer-copper 322-grain/.408 boat tail?
