I can tell ya about the time we dumped 120k pounds of fuel over the English Channel during an IFE due to an engine fire warning light being lit... 😬
My understanding is that the fuel never evaporates regardless of altitude. It just breaks up into minute droplets.

Ask Joe Dirt, he can tell you!

Only New Orleans.

Well that’s a relief.

Our corn sucks this year, I know it ain’t me being on the innanet 10 hours a day.

They must be dumping fuel from airliners or somethin.

Years ago most of the F4's on base were converted to F4-S and the fuel cells leaked. Our squadron that still had F4-J flew a lot of hours dumping fuel over the Atlantic. I guess slowing down the supply system wasn't a choice.

That's hilarious...after all said and done, anyway. Hope he appreciated the value of checklists after that!

I've dumped in a plane before. I don't recommend it, though it is better than the alternative.

My time in the airline industry, I have seen a few RTB's with fuel dumps. A heavy 747 needs to shed weight to land safely.

The 3 letter agencies love hearing about a fuel dump, fine book in hand.
