Madmooner That top stool is what most people refer to as a dove stool. They work ok if the ground is hard but they will sink in on soft ground. You might want to carry you a piece of plywood a tad bigger than the legs to sit it on.

I've kinda learned over the years that whatever I sit in when hunting is way better with something that supports your back. The stools just don't cut it, unless they are at the base of a tree, and you can lean back on it.

Heck I use a folding steel chair, I hate climbing out of the too short foldup cloth chairs.

I just ordered this one again on Amazon. I had one just like it for a couple of years and really liked it but squirrels (I think) destroyed it. I'm glad Primos is still making it. Primos Double Bull hunting chair

I hunt ridge and bluff country, generally too steep to use anything with legs, unless ground is soft enough to sink a leg or two in you wind up tipping all over. For the times I decide to hunt from the ground I've started taking the seat from an old Lone Wolf Hand Climber and using it. Light, slips over your shoulder, infinitely height adjustable. Set up pretty much anywhere without having to worry about ground being soft/level.
Use the Lone Wolf cuz I have it around. I'm sure you could make the seat half of most any climber work.

I like the Walkstool Comfort 55cm as it's just a click higher than desk chair height. The boys don't go numb nearly as fast as they do with shorter tripods (easier on knees too). It telescopes so it folds down to small package and fits in a side compartment on my pack. http://www.walkstool.com/comfort

Bass Pro sells a nifty little folding three legged stool for $9.99. Even has a carry strap I use one of these as well. It gets me high enough off the ground to comfortably sit behind binos on a tripod for long periods of time. Some day I will look at the more expensive and lighter options, but for $10 they are tough to beat.

Mostly these days I'll carry a cushion in my pack for run and gun ground hunting. Years ago Hunter Specialties made a fold up tree mounted seat called the C100 that I used for a time. It had an L shaped bracket that you attached to a tree with a screw in climber peg. Problem was if you shifted your weight to either side, it fell over 90 degrees! Not terrible with your feet on the ground, but real exciting in an elevated tree stand. Some guy swiped it along with a duffel bag of a week's worth of camping garbage out of the back of my truck. I can only hope that he tried that seat in a tree stand and it dropped him on his head.
My other auto is a .45

This won’t fit in a pack. Absolutely my all time favorite “deer stand”. I’ve used this combination for years. The webb seat will dry rot after several years. Got three deer from it this season so far. The pads are tied together with paracord and they get me high enough off the ground that my back doesn’t kill me. The legs don’t sink in the soft river bottom soil. Rifle lays across my lap, arms lay on my rifle, lean back and take a nap. 😃 The legs fold up so the seat and pad = 6” Weighs 3-1/2lbs. The seat has a long shoulder strap so I slide it around to the small of my back. Doesn’t catch on limbs and brush. Take a number of turkey, deer, squirrel and whatever needs a bullet. Is there a manufacter on there, like that it folds

I have the original Travel Chair Slacker Stool for 12-13 years now. Don't use all the time or even every year, but it has been quite durable. https://travelchair.com/product/slacker-model-1389v-2/They claim it weighs 2 lbs, sounds about right.

Sometimes they’ll show up here around turkey season. I just found these- https://www.sportsmans.com/hunting-...j5I_6-wIVaRvUAR0AogrVEAQYIiABEgKAbfD_BwE
