Yellow Creek COE / WMA. Pretty much a ghost town yesterday still hunting and skirting the inside border for fresh sign. Jumped 4 or 5 bedded does around 1030 on the wind sheltered SE corner and slope about 35 40 yds away. Seeing zilch for fresh sign till I got down in their from the boat ramp up north. Gonna walk the creek bank all the way down in a few. In the parking lot now. Wind building up from WNW like yesterday. Just got a feeling to sit in this choke point area feeding into the place from all the private lands south of it.
That creek system in the upper right that flows into yellow creek is the one that goes thru slumlords place also. AKA FISH CAMP !!! About 3/4ths of a mile away.
Finally gave up on my usual spots. A friend called me and says to come sit on a old beaver dam hole on his place. 8 slick heads come by. One stayed close and snorted/stomped.....should have shot her. My Buddy says to come back and shoot her he wants one for sausage.
I am off for a week and a half over the holidays. Have an antlerless season then and I still have a buck and doe tag for archery left. The snow on the ground makes it easier for me to get one home!
When Stuttgart gets done sucking down a couple dozen Endless Pancakes at ICRAP and doing his “fambly time” I suspect he will hit me up on his dope remote 1997 Nokia about 12:45.
We will put together an afternoon hunt again, try to put him onto another nanner-head. That should top his freezers off.
We don’t need any advice from couch kgunts or 80 year old Slide in Camper morons that haven’t touched a round off in 58 years.
Bow hunting once just a couple days before gun season opening day. Up in my tree stand, happened to spot a couple of guys slowly walking through the woods a little ways out from me, apparently scouting for deer sign preparing for the gun season opener. Watched them pass by and as they stepped into a long, thick row of head-high briars and honeysuckle vines along the backside of a crop field, I watched a pretty nice buck silently 'belly-crawl' out within a couple of yards of where they had just entered at, and headed away in the direction they just came from. Couldn't help but wonder how often I had the same thing happen to me and never had the slightest idea.
Around here on the farm , in "bait country " , you have to make your first shot count as the adjacent landowners (around me) will not allow you to retrieve and animal!
Glad to read that you guys are still at it. We're done here except for a late cwd hunt in the SE part of the state this weekend. It may be time to broaden my out of state horizon again. I still have the itch, but can't scratch it sitting here like a lump.
I don't understand people not letting hunters retrieve deer. We all around here see someone looking or have one down and cannot fine it will help them out. Alot of good people around these parts.

For me it is situational. If I have 40 acres that I manage the best I can and some jackwipe has 5 acres next door that he baits deer on, that MAY be a no go. I might allow it, if it's a rare occurrence. If I am regularly having him come over plowing around looking for gut shot deer, that's not acceptable. Bottom line is that the neighbor has to be a good neighbor, not a slob.
