Looking forward to the 2023 season and wanting to give my eyes (which are aging and also have scar tissue from surgery that affects my low light vision) an upgraded scope, budget in the $1k range. Looking at the Toric UHD 2.5x15x44 and the GPO Spectra 6x 2-12x44. Anyone have experience w either and wouldn’t mind sharing. Much appreciated.

At 71, I've found that I prefer an easy to see reticle on my muzzle loader scopes. If you can find a heavy duplex or german #4, those would me my choices. Also the Trigiicon illuminated dots or posts work well. I have a couple of them also. The highest mag. I use on my muzzle loaders is a 2.5 X 8. I have no problem out to 100 yds. I have had cattaract surgery both eyes and detached retina surgery left eye.

Don’t see why a ML scope should be any different that what one would use on a CF rifle for similar distances, and the ones I used on my inlines reflected that, 2-7 or 3-9, set on the low end in the field.
Repented of my inline sins and now only have cap guns with irons (really because our ML season is short and generally fruitless, not because I think inlines are “cheating”).
EDIT: Pardon my drift above. Haven’t owned either scope you mention, but have owned two Tracts and liked both very much, including the one I still have, a mere 1” Toric 3-15. Good stuff. That 2.5-15x44 with the illuminated T-Plex is one I’ve drooled over a bit, combining one of my favorite reticles with the illumination I’ve come to prefer in my old age.

Assuming you are thinking 100 to 150 yards, you could use a red/green dot and 3X magnifier.
For those without thumbs, it's s Garden fookin Island, not Hawaii

I have no experience with either of those two and am only here to give you a third choice. I think it would be worth it to take a look at the trijicon accupoints. They are a great low light scope.

I have a Toric. The glass is awesome. The low light is very good. It is on par with the Meopta Meostar and a Conquest HD5 that I have.
I don't have any experience with the GPO scopes.

I’m a fan of the Torics and would buy with confidence. FWIW, I have a 3x9 Nikon Monarch on a Knight Disc on a rebuilt 3.5x10 vari-X-III on a Knight Mountaineer. Happy with both.

I own a couple torics although they are not on muzzleloaders they are great for the price point. My muzzleloaders wear lower power scopes 1- has a tract turion no longer made but a great value and my 45 cal long range wears a nightforce shv 3-10 with the illuminated force plex. This is a great low light scope and to my eyes a little better than my 2-10 toric.
