What we enjoy the most around here now that covid has taken a back seat to monkey pox, is the pilgrimage of flatlanders coming up to play in the snow...in their brand new four wheel drive. It is common knowledge among the valley folks that with 4wd you can go 4 times as fast on pack or ice. First good storm this year a lady slid through the stop sign coming from Mt Shasta Ski Park, across both lanes of Hwy 89, through the Forest Service SnoPark, just missing the toilets, over the bank into the snow boarders half pipe. Her and the kids were not hurt thankfully, the Jeep suv was badly injured. Witnesses told the Highway Patrol she was doing 'about 30' when she blew through the stop sign with all 4 wheels locked...apparently anti skid has it's limits. But the airbags worked great.
