Ok. I have tomorrow off, all the needed materials and equipment, and will start loading my first 45-90 (405 gov) rds tomorrow, for a Shiloh that showed up last spring. A past poster suggested a 50:50 mix of beewax and olive oil as lube. I'm in the sticks with essentially no commercial suppliers at hand, so want to roll my own blend.
I've secured the materials, but neglected to ask previously. When cooking this up, does it pretty much go to a consistent mix on its own, or does one encounter an emulsion type situation that needs constant attention or stirring to get a good blend? Also, lube storage (room temp, refrigerator, freezer)?
Appreciate the help and will try to refrain from becoming mister "question man" tomorrow. Looking forward to blowing some smoke. 1Minute

Oh man, you're at risk of becoming a lubaholic, someone who keeps messing with different recipes in an endless search for the perfect lube. As much as I hate to admit it, it's pretty hard to make something better than commercial lubes like SPG or Black Magic. Seriously, I don't know the properties of the specific recipe, but most beeswax-based lubes melt and mix pretty well using a double boiler. The important thing is not to expose them to direct heat and overheat them. Storage is something of a mystery, but the conventional wisdom seems to be an airtight container and avoiding extreme temperatures. Experience has led me to be "gentle" with my lubes. Here's a link you might find helpful. You may have to click on "BPCR Lubes" in the left column. I've had decent results with the Dan Theodore lubes with Lubegard. http://www.bpcr.net/index-a.htmSpeaking for myself, don't hesitate to ask questions. I'm glad to help if I can. PMs OK too. Paul
