Original condition- so it was drilled for the scope mounts from the factory?

They did come drilled and tapped from the factory, but not sure
what year Marlin STARTED D&T Them.

Love the 336 A, My favorite Marlin followed by the 336 SC. If it was drilled and tapped correctly, I think your price is fair. I saw one at the local shop lastweek that had been drilled and tapped, looked like they did it with a pistol drill. The holes didn't even line up. They had a $1400.00 tag on it!

Im just glad to hear my 1950 undrilled waffle top 336A in 35rem is worth $1500.

ONLY if you are a dyed in the Wool ''Collector of Marlin Guns'' does drilling and tapping hurt it. (Price Wise)
I would say most Hunters use a Scope, 85 per cent to 15. In this Case A Gunsmith WOULD CHARGE at lease $100 to do the Job,
so you are getting this for ''FREE''. By the way, I Have Vintage Scopes that would LOOK REAL GOOD on this Gun, If INTERESTED, ASK!

I'm with you! If molested waffle tops are going for $1000+, then our unmolested waffle tops must be going for quite a bit more.
