Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

Look at baja region I spend a lot of time on the east cape. Is safety guaranteed? no but going in with knowledge will help make a decision. I just rent a VRBO down their every year. I have friends in Loreto, small towns south of La Paz, La Ribera
I like Costa Rica too but much more expressive higher living costs

Late aunt had a big villa in Cabo. She said she always fet safer there than in Austin. Cousins have it now. They go there to golf.
I would never go there when she asked. Just me.

I can recommend from experience Colombia and Panama your dollar will go real far in Colombia, Panama is amazing and they use the dollar as the main currency. If you are on Facebook search expat groups for which ever country you are thinking about traveling you will find a wealth of info from Americans living there

Not really just wanting to know as I have heard of people moving into US friendly areas of Mexico, or other Latin American countries. I know there are some hunting lodges south of the border suppose to be secure from the cartels and calamity,

I know there are some hunting lodges south of the border suppose to be secure from the cartels and calamity, which lodges? There is no "US friendly" area in Mexico or Latin America. There are areas that are safer for expats to visit and live though Most of the hunting lodges are located in heavy cartel, higher crimes areas so you are really restricted in your travels if you would live there. I wouldn't Mexico is very different from other latin countries and each latin country differs. You have to put down your requirements first like access to healthcare, cost of living etc Not like living in the US at all and most Americans don't get this

You also can’t own land in Mexico. You have to set up a trust with a Mexican lawyer you trust.

Probably better to get a place near Phoenix outskirts or Tucson, as it's easy to be poor there, and the level of crime is probably a fifth of what anywhere in mexico is, especially for whyte peepul. Or whatever...be 'affluent' in a foreign land, and we can read about you and your families' rape, robbery, and murder in a few years. At least in Phoenix Area/Tucson you can defend yourself legally...

You also can’t own land in Mexico... Not true. Americans cannot own beachfront property in Mexico.

From: https://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/reinou.../218-acquisition-of-properties-in-mexicoA foreign individual or company may directly own land in Mexico except in what is described by Article 27 of the Mexican Constitution as the "restricted zone." A zone within one hundred kilometers (sixty-one miles) of the international border and fifty kilometers (thirty-one miles) of the seacoast. Much more detail at the link. Bruce

Around Ciudad Juarez is very nice, I hear. L.W.
