With the web, odd folks can easily find others outside the social norm and be among their kind. A zillion sub groups.
IMHO the killers are not content with just being different.
They're pissed they're different and that the world wont change for them. Arrogance instead of assimilation.

He was very bright as evidenced by the fact that he was a PhD student. Dumb people don't get that far. Some things rate quoting without additional commentary. A lot of people would be surprised to know how many dumb people have Ivy League degrees... Not me, I work with engineers.

Ive seen enough reg, masters and higher folks that were not bright outside of their field. Many were shockingly bad within their field.
Pulled some real stupid moves, at work/home .....in technical and personal. The stories theyd tell.........and be clueless as to how chit happened.
Add a high level degree and diversity............some real stoopid mofos. They only screwed up so much before work canned em. Many bailed before then, knew they couldn't hack it. Was comical.
Subsequent employers dumped em pretty quick too.

FWIW I always figured at my old job, some EE would crack and come in and try to shoot up the place. Some real odd ones, back in school too.

Dunno if it’s been reported here, but the suspect has waived the extradition hearing, we should know more about the case on Tuesday. Both him and his parents are “cooperating fully with police”. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/idaho-...-hearing-attorney/?intcid=CNI-00-10aaa3b

Richard Jewell the suspected Olympic Park bomber was "strange" and spent months under suspicion before they finally exonerated him. A prominent newsman pretty well convicted him. Turned out he was the hero and collected damages for defamation.
I hope he is guilty because everyone thinks he is.
That's what I say anytime someone is accused of a child sex crime or rape. A lot of those allegations are false.

I find it strange his dad flew from PA to Washington and drove him home!!! As a old fashioned (by modern standards) Dad of 19 and 15 year old kids, you just can't believe what strange is. How about parents giving a 19 uear old nursing students much alcohol she is a borderline alcoholic. Or Mom of a similar girl trying to fix her up with "A nice Black Intern from work" These are rural, "solid" people. Church going, republican voting, Facing Idiots. Both cases it is Mom. Dad would blow a gasket if he knew how bad it is.

Those moms are trying to live vicariously through their daughters. Both should be horse whipped.

And don't you dare ask them why the mirror fogs. The answers will be embarrassing to both of you.

My chemical engineer ex-BIL, trying to tell us about plowing fields and felling trees. Work with him. Our best chemist at work is educated in micro-biology. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This post seems to make its own point. One could easily work the position that it is not possible to be "educated beyond one's intelligence" due to various factors. However, during the past two or three decades much of the perverted educational "establishment" has worked to produce its version of the degreed/certificated society that emphasizes checking off "competency" boxes and marking standardized milestones that yield the equivalent of educational trade cards. This will not end well for them - or us. Where the major focus of the reputable (most) educational bodies once emphasized the overall development of the whole mind and a learned person to the greatest extent possible for the individual and field (one excellent reason for inclusion of the liberal arts in a " higher education"), most of the competitive emphasis now is to churn out big numbers of certificated individuals with the admission that their educational scope can be quite narrow. So now even more than ever, if you want to be well-educated - do it on your own and not so much rely on the certificate factories. There are plenty of reasons (some quite sound) why people like to snipe at others who appear to have some higher status in a field, workplace, etc. One of the indicators of folks not possessed of the higher learning is the proclivity to make broad generalizations about groups of people (such as Ph.D.s) on the basis of small samples and limited experiences. My impression in the Moscow, Idaho murders is that the guy arrested has been on the LE radar since not very long after the events but that complications like distances, state jurisdictions, scant hard evidence at critical junctures, etc. led to the "move-carefully/slowly, do not reveal much, keep asking for contributions," strategies. I do hope they have this nailed and will enact the highest degree of retribution.

I've worked with and around a bunch of PhDs in my career. They're like everone else, some good, some not so. I think people just tend to expect more from a highly-educated person and they sometimes fall short. Two of the most humble, down to earth people I've known had/have PhDs. One thing those types have in common is that they will never mention the fact that they have a PhD or any of their other accoplishments. Then there are those who find a way to work it into the conversation the first chance they get. Watch out for those. Two of the most worthless people I've known professionally had PhDs. I was interviewing one for an open position and he asked where I got my PhD. When I told him I didn't have one he was crestfallen as in "I could never work for somene who didn't have a PhD." But too bumbling to know that was not going to be a problem.
A wise man is frequently humbled.

CCCC, Discussing education is ironic. Hated school(mostly the controll). Ds were as good as As. Pass, move up, toward getting out.
Don't know the names for the policies, but the methods and goals of our current system are flawed.
I At the fundamental levels, I believe in memorization. Addition, subtraction, multiplication tables....things necessary to know. Now!
We continue that though.
Kids are not taught to think. To use the crazy, random brain processing abilities. They are programmed to spit out the data stored. To approach everything as a math problem. "Plug in the numbers, run the equation".
I blasted higher education, it's in high school graduates also. See it at work. Problems arise. If the normal fixes don't work, too many guys aren't capable of an outside the box fix. No problem solving that requires processing. They rely on pre-programmed solutions and are lost if a novel solution is required.
Those problem solving skills are only behind GAF, in determining the best operators.

I find it strange his dad flew from PA to Washington and drove him home!!! Where'd you get that? Any verifiable source?? All reports say that Kohberger drove himself to Penn. L.W.
