I’m not sure what I want.

I have a Model 700 .243 that’s a nice weather rifle.

- Have a kinda heavy 6.5 Creedmoor that’s I consider more of a target rifle or carry a quarter mile and sit down by a tree and hope a deer walks by kinda rifle.

- Have a .264 Win Mag featherweight stainless that I would consider my main all around rifle at the moment.
- Have a cheap accurate 30-06 that I would consider a loaner/truck gun type rifle.

99% of my shooting is targets, charging milk jugs and a deer/coyote now and then.
I’ve had a few big magnums over the years etc.
i think they are fun but they won’t kill a deer any deader than a 243.
This was much easier when I was 15 years old. I knew I wanted a 300 Win Mag to go with my .243 and it was that easy. .270 Win, .308 or 30-06 would have been a better choice. Back then I could make decisions much easier for some reason.

-Let’s say a max budget of $1,500 for rifle only. No Ruger Americans, No Savage Axis etc. I reload but still prefer easy to find factory ammo.
Short list is a hunting weight 6.5 Creedmoor, a stainless .243/6 Creed, stainless .223, possibly a 308.

I have a couple thousand 130 and 143 grain 6.5 bullets.
If I didn’t have the 264 then a 6.5 PRC would be in the running.

If starting from scratch as a brand new shooter today I would probably buy a rifle chambered in one of the popular short action cartridges and one long action or a short mag, buy good glass and stock up on components.

Bergara Ridge 6.5 Creedmoor. If it doesn't come with a brake, put one on it! Put a Trigger Tech Special on it, set on 1#. Don't weigh it down with a gigantic scope, start out with something like 4x12 but with AO. Have the rifle "skim bedded". Presto! And you still haven't gone over budget, "probably", ha. Good luck though pard, but don't "settle" life is too short!

A GOOD 22LR,will teach you more than all of those things bolted together and in a much lesser duration. Hint.

Go Vudoo and never look back. Hint.

Thank me later.

Just sayin'.

Hint...............

I’ve got a CZ 457 Varmint for the .22ing stuff and a Model 39A for the less serious .22 stuff.
If I was starting from scratch today I would probably buy a 6.5 creed, 6 Creed or tight twist .243 with a bunch of 103’s, 108’s etc and a 7PRC and 175-180s and go hunting.

I have a 700 classic I’d make you a heck of a deal on. It’s a 300 Weatherby. I have two, selling the better one. If you handload you can tame it to 30-06 levels.

What kind of accuracy are you getting?

Your CLUELESSNESS is funnier than fhuqk. I enjoy it when you Fhuqktards start by Posting STUPID fhuqking questions, then "magically" obtain the ability to "answer" same. Read that again. Now one more time. HINT.

Jane Queen will "help" you. Hint.

Fhuqking LAUGHING!..............

I have a very hard time these days picking up any hunting rifle other one of my Kimber Hunters. They're very light - even though I may have them a bit "over scoped" with SWFA 3x9's. All up, they weigh 7 1/4# with sling and ammo. 6.5CM and 7-08. If I had to just keep one it would be the Creed.

Stainless Tikka super lite, In the 6.5 CM is an easy button for hunting or target . I have one it’s boring accurate. I can shoot a box of 20 in a row with out noticing any changes in accuracy. 130 game changers with big game just shy of 2900fps. I think 2880 or so.
I don’t care for the 24” barrel, wish it was 22, but if you want more target that’s even better for you.
I Have a tikka in 06 as my main squeeze. And also a 223. New Tikka 223 have faster twist. Mine is 1:10 but it shoots cheap bulk at moa.
I run talley on mine for years with out any issues , but fiends also use dnz one piece and I hear no complaints.
If you have an itch for new caliber. The 7-08 would be my next choice. You can’t go wrong with 270 or 06. Ammo anywhere if for some reason you were in a pinch.
I also Have a kimber Hunter for my boy in 6.5 Cm. Tikka any day of the week.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I kinda had in my mind what I wanted when I started this thread but wanted others opinions to see if I hadn’t thought of something.
If I was to narrow it down to a 6.5 Creed or 6.5 PRC in a Bergara B14 or a Tikka T3X lite stainless or T3X lite Roughtech which would you choose and why?

Tikka Lite Stainless…..because it’s light and stainless. I don’t there’s a B14 that checks either of those boxes.
