I had a Hopkins/Allen .36 underhammer I built, it was one accurate little muzzleloader.. Head shot a bunch of squirrels with it anywhere from 10-45 yards and killed a groundhog at 75 yds with a ball thru both ears..
I did cheat and mount a scope on it, sure was a fun little gun.. A friend wanted it more then me though.
Yours looks a tad heavy to squirrel hunt with:)

Making black powder smoke is a great thing..

Try some paper strip for patching.

Mine was built by another fella.

Shot this at a match in Cody, WY about 12 years ago. 100 yards, full value crosswind, L-R, 15G25 MPH. Good enough for second place. I do much better with it in calm conditions. Ballpark 1.5 MOA

Didn't realize you were shooting roundballs. Paper will work fine for that. Figure the thickness needed to give it two wraps, leave exposed lead on the front, twist tail the backside and clip with scissors or some such....wet paper first, let dry after the clip or before, your call.
