Anybody using the 6.5 Sierra GameKing on deer? If so how do they perform?? Will be using them from 250 yards to point blank out of a 6.5 Creedmore and a stiff charge of H4350.

Thanks

It has become my favorite bullet in the 6.5 CM for deer. It's a very good deer killer.

I killed a few with it in 260 and it done the job well, no exit on hard angle shots though.

Is that a new bullet from Sierra? Can't seem to find anything on it.

The 129 gr. Hornady IL has been working well enough that I doubt I'll waste time and money fuuckin around with anything else. Firmly in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp.

I am not sure if it is new or not? It was the only 6.5 bullet my LGS had besides the 143gr ELD-x that I got decent groups out of but nothing like the 120's shoot.

For 120 grains I bet he meant Pro Hunter.

The bullets I developed a load for my 6.5 Creedmore is definitely a 120gr Pro Hunter. And they shot great groups using H4350

This^^^^^^ I have been using the 130 grain SGK HPBT in my 6.5x55 for a couple of years now. Pinhole entrance wound with extreme damage internally and exit. I’ve also been using the .308/165 grain version of that bullet in my.308. Same results.

I loaded the 120gn Prohunter in my 6.5x55 when new and shot a couple of medium sized pigs with it. Full penetration on side on shots which surprised me.

The issue becomes when is Sierra going to make a run of the 120 PH? Military and Police contracts, plus their own ammunition is depleting the market of Sierra Bullets, same for Nosler.

Thus, the 129g Hornady Sp has become a fantastic short range bullet for my family, never fails...never. 6.47 Lapua, 260, and 6.5/06

I will never shoot a gameking the rest of my life period. Their performance is so erratic it can vary from FMJ to loose the core.

Damn Jeff, that bad? Shot a lot of deer and pigs in Ga back in the day, with 165 game kings outta 30-06 ... All died quickly.

Haven’t killed a deer with mine yet.
But the 130 Tipped game kings shoot lights out of my creed. For the $. Best bang for the buck. Target and hunting bullet in one.
Shot a cow elk with 180 game kings of 06 and a pretty hot load. Bullet worked perfectly

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I’ve saw the core slip a lot but never had one act like a FMJ.

Same. I have a dozen or more Sierras I have recovered. A lot of jacket/core separations, which are fine by me as they kill like lightning.

Never seen one not expand though, the HP versions are too hard for my tastes though.
