Easy answer is Shooter71 here on the campfire, also known as Shaen Rifles. Terrific smith and super easy to work with.

Lots of good gunsmiths out there. Shaen does great work with a quick turnaround.

Unfortunately, his website says he is so backed up. He’s not excepting new work at this time.

Wow, that's a surprise things sure have changed in a year. Good for Shaen seems everyone has figured out what a great rifle he can build for you. The last one he did for me exactly a year ago I had back in something like 4 weeks for a full on build. If no rush he is worth waiting on IMHO.

The problem may be getting the barrel. Did one this year and the barrel (Brux) was backordered 7 months.

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

I would contact Pederson Precision in Argyle, WI. He has a great working relationship with a couple barrel makers in WI. His work is top notch. Quick turn around time as long as the parts are in stock and does amazing cosmetic work with cerakote. You can find him on facebook.

Jeff Hayes of River's bend Gun Company:

He started out working for GA Precision, great guy, personable, and knowledgeable. He's worked on a couple M7s for me and is about to rebarrel and stock a M700 for me this winter. The time he quoted me for this one was about 2 months.

In my opinon the easy button is sending the barreled action to directly Bartlein and have a duplicate cut and spun on. I did this a year or two back with a 280 rem to duplicate a Douglas barrel I had. Turned out fantastic and shoots extremely well. Price was very reasonable then with a quick turnaround...

Randy Gregory of Accuracy Unlimited in Meford, WI. I see he's cut rifling his own barrels now. He does a lot of long range competition rifles, but was working on sporters as well the last time I was in his shop.

I'm not a gunsmith sir, but I do believe it is impossible to go down in caliber doing a rebore.

Sir, it appears that he said rebarrel.

That's nice, but he gave JES as an option, and JES does rebores, not rebarreling.
