Came across a .308 version today at a local shop $999. Weighed 6lbs 13oz. Does anyone make 22-25oz synthetic stocks for Ruger 77?

Yes. If I buy I will pull that off and put Low Ruger rings with a 1.5-5 scope.

Seems like you're going to pay $1000 for a rifle with a lot of stuff you don't want. The walnut on the Hunter is supposed to be one of its selling points since they got rid of the older walnut/blued 77s.

Have always wanted a Ruger 77 that weighed less than 6.5lbs scoped and ready to hunt...rings, scope, sling, cartridges.

I could be wrong (not unusual!) but I thought they made a synthetic FWT version of the Hunter? At least I think there was one when they first launched the series.

CDNN used to advertise a hawkeye in a green or brown synthetic stock that i want to say was a hogue product.
Whether or not this would apply to the rifle in question may be debatable.

No weights provided on their website, which sucks donkey balls. https://www.hogueinc.com/stocks/ruger/m77mkii/shortaction/standard]Bell & Carlson offering is 32 oz.

I don't have any laminates... are they lighter or heavier than walnut?

I've been under the impression the B&C stocks are for long-action only.

I've been under the impression the B&C stocks are for long-action only. Unless they just recently started making short action, they are "long" action with a magnum barrel contour. I have a couple of these. Though, in one conversation with them, I had mentioned that I wished they made a short action version. She said that quite a few people had been asking about that. But, no real indication if they were on the to-do list. Thus far their web page does not list them.

Gonna be tough to get a 77 or anything resembling it down to the featherweight zone. If that’s the goal, it’s best to buy something built light from the ground up. I love 98s, 77s, and M70s, but my light rifles are push feeds.
I have one 98, a Heym .308, that’s very light for a Mauser, courtesy of an incredibly light stock of bland French walnut, 24oz. Had to put two cross bolts in the wrist to fix splitting, and I’m not certain it's over yet.
Try oregunsmithingllc.com for a light 77 stock. $695 finished.
What fresh Hell is this?
