Not your favorite brands, but if you want to say, that's fine, too. Pictures welcome, too.

Just curious what everyones favorite pot call and striker materials are?

I'm extremely partial to my glass over glass in laminate pot call and an acryllic under walnut striker. Surfaced prepped with 120 to 150 grit sand paper. It makes a smooth, very slightly raspy yelp, good clucks. With a graphite under wlanut striker it will kee kee well, too.

I've also like an aluminum over glass in a laminate pot with dymondwood or graphite under walnut striker. Aluminum prepped with 120 grit. I can get some really loud and very high pitched calls out of it and it kee kees well, too. This has been my best locator call.

I tend to gravitate towards my higher pitched calls. Though a good, lower pitched, raspy slate over glass and dymondwood over poplar striker is usually with me, too.

Most of my pot calls are slate. I think I might have a glass or even an alum one for when I hunted TX a lot in the high winds. Most were made by a local call maker and a few were either made by myself or store bought. I have one Wood Heaven call, but I don't carry any of them most of the time. I just use mouth calls 99% of the time.

I prefer slate over glass in a figured walnut or cherry pot.

Probably the pot call that has brought in the most turkeys for me is either:

a) A Shamanic Original slate over glass on a poplar pot . I use a purple heart striker
b) An Heirloom Double Barrel call that is slate on one side and glass on the other. Brian Warner used to make these. Imagine two deep pot calls with the bottoms cut out and glued bottom-to-bottom and a bunch of holes cut in the sides to let the sound out.

I carry a slate (my favorite finesse call) and a glass (for distant birds) in hardwood pots. I like a flared striker with the water resistant coating, seems to give a bit better purchase on the call surface.
