I’ve had a few, worst was building a 20’ trailer. I had stopped for lunch, thunderstorm came up, ran outside grabbed raincoat that was hanging in my barn, pushed left arm in the sleeve, it caught on fire. They got my arm, neck and left side of my face bad. I got hit over 25 times, arm and were swollen for days. These were red wasps.

Anyone else had fun with wasps

Many times. In the head while putting hay in a loft.

Back of head a couple years ago, they had a nest built in a small clump of leaves on a tree in the years. Mowed under and they lit me up.

Front of legs as a kid. They had a nest in the trailer tongue and I was messing with the jack.

Many other occasions but these 3 stick out.

Not me on the red ones. Had a couple run inns with bald face hornets. Not fun at all.

Stepped on a ground hornets nest entrance, zapped my leg.

Never seen one of those red ones before, but have been stung multiple times by yellow jackets and the black ones, I think they are called bald faced as mentioned.

When I was falling you would be moving from tree to tree, there is alot going on with sawdust flying all over, they come out of the ground...so you I would get stung 4-5 times before I figured out wtf was going on....drop saw and run....then there would be a couple hundred flying around the saw idling on the ground.

It takes all the gray matter I had to figure a way to get the saw without them noticing me, that happened at least 20-30 times, I can still feel it.

There are wasps like that in north Texas. The SOB’s build in low mesquite limbs about face high. No red or black wasps in Coleman county, I hunt about 70 miles south of there now, plenty red muther there.

I've had a war with them for six years now. They insist the Kawasaki mule and Tractor are their homes. We disagree. I can't say about the species but my particular colony will not just sting you once. They'll light on you and pump venom until you either kill it or it runs out of fire.

Stepped on the entry hole to a yellow jacket nest, the ones about half an inch long that boil up out of the ground in a huge swarm. They flew up my pants leg. About 20 stings from ankle to knee. Ever try to run and take your pants off at the same time?

I bought 4 of these “glue tubes” off Amazon (Walmart had them as well) for caroentsr bees that were ruining my rafters in a barn. It wiped out the carpentar bees, but also all the stinging critters as well. Going to pickup another 4 before spring.

Had the red wasps build a nest in a rusted out middle pipe on my gate, had been in AZ dove hunting most of a week...got hit twice unlocking/opening the gate before I figured out where they were...pipe split and rusted thru, second from top rail of 6 pipe gate. Drove through the gate and went about unloading, putting away. At full dark...9-930 is went back out with a headlamp on and my LP bar b que pit starter torch and bottle...lit it and then lit them up as they boiled out of the pipe...flame immediately renders the wings GONE, and they fall to the ground...next morning fire ants are swarmed over the 50+ carcasses ...let them enjoy for a couple hours and then AMDRO'd the fire ants too

I was dove hunting with my very young son (still in diapers) walking in a dry creek bed when I stepped on a ground nest full of pissed off yellow jackets.

There was nowhere to hide from the swarm so I scooped up my son and I started running for my pickup about half a mile away through a bare field. I dropped my shotgun in the dirt so I could swat the yellow jackets that were biting his little bare arms and face. Meanwhile I'm getting hammered by the hornets; arms, legs and face. Young son had soiled his diaper about halfway across that field and babyschit was all over my arms and clothes.

I had over 30 bites, son had about 5.

I fugging HATE yellowjackets.

The End

Now my wife wears gloves to do the dishes after we figured out spraying wasps with Dawn kills them dead.
