In the late fifties I got a really neat cap gun and holster set. Not cheap and crappy. As I remember the holster and belt were real leather. Cap guns were heavy and had turquois colored handles. Unfortunately no photos.

I got a John Deere Pedal tractor & sis got a Barbara Jo Doll for Christmas 1956. I had a peddle tractor just about like that. At first I didn't want it, because Granddad's tractor was red, not green. But after a while I became the terror of the sidewalk, on our block. At that time we lived in Abilene, Tx. and I owned one side of the street. Got my butt tore up one time for running into some lady.

Gi Joes with King Fu grip, match box cars and Tomy Tommy gun. Still have them

Not really any cool toys in the late '70s-early '80s. Coolest would have been Tonka toys.
I did have the hand me down pedal cars that were my mom's and her siblings. They may still be in that loft of the garage.
Be worth some $$ as long as grandpa didn't freshen them up with a gallon of rustoleum and a paint brush like he was so famous for doing.

I did have some of the Ertl (?) metal trucks.
But by the 80’s. A lot of it was plastic.

Erector Set, and Lincoln Logs come to mind. We would play with my dads Lincoln Log Set when at the Grand Parents house. They were from the 1930's. A little different that the 1960's ones, but just as much fun.

Bob R I think dad still has his Lincoln Logs. I used to play with those at the Great Grandparents in the 80s. I do have a little toy downstairs. Little steam engine deal. Has/had fuel sticks or you could probably use wood. Heated water and drove a little single piston deal. Mom said she doesn't remember it, could have been her brothers.

7th birthday, I got a Winchester 67A boy's carbine, 1959. Parents never did let me have a BB gun!

I was about 8 and dad sold his Harley and a Mauser.
Bought me and my brother little 80cc ATVs. Yamaha.
We'd run them dawn till midnight at camp. Occasionally take a 10/22, brick of ammo and the quad through the woods, down a road to the town dump to shoot whatever looked interesting.
Suppose kids can't do that anymore.

Planet of the Apes action figures. GI Joe and Big Jim crap everywhere. Ricochet Racers on target. Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Tonka Trucks. The usual.

When I was in the 6th grade, we lived in Indiana, about a mile from the small town dump. There was always a fire going at the dump and we'd find spray cans or bottles with tops and throw them in the fire to see how big a pop they would make. Most just fizzled, but once in a while, we get a really good one. Hey, we had to make our own fun.

Mid '50's metal Tonka Toys you could run over with a truck and not hurt them, no plastic wheels on these, Gilbert chemistry set you could make gunpowder with. Set of Hoppy's full size cap pistols with the holster, then couple years later got the cool Mattel lever action rifle, which my mother quickly picked up and broke it over the pooch when she caught him scooting his a$$ on her new carpet. Never did get another Mattel out of the old woman.
