It ain't as easy as the videos make it look. My problems were self caused...too much stuff...not enough heat. So I made a wok out of a plow disc and used the big propane canning/crab boiling burner. I learned to get the peanut/sesame oil smoking, then start throwing in the stuff...success, no more soft veggies and tough overdone meat, crisp veggies and tender meat from lots of heat. Still not going to quit my day job though.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
Got one off Amazon, it'll rust if you leave water in it but it's the real deal. Keep a skiff of oil on it and you're fine. Won't fry fish in anything else. They are very versatile and just as important as cast iron. They definitely have their place
Beware of any old man in a profession where one usually dies young.

They work great, even the cheap ones. You do need a powerful stove to do stir-fry properly. To clean, heat soapy water in the wok and use coarse stainless scrub pads or stainless scrub brush. Remove visible residue but don't make it too clean.
Won't abide a wok in my house ever since I saw them bad soldiers torture that cute little oriental lady by fryin her hand on one in that movie. Don't want to be caught cooking dinner and have some bandits pull that schit on me unawares.

My f-i-l made one out of a disc. Welded up the hole, ground it down and polished it out. Worked great. Unfortunately, the arrogant, pig headed know-it-all suddenly decided he didn't like Asians and threw it in his scrap pile. I didn't realize it until it was beyond redemption.
