The question is about shooting my 22-250 using a 6.5 suppressor. I understand that the loose hole will not capture expanding gases as efficiently as a suppressor built for a .224 caliber would..
But how well or bad will it work?

Best answer is to pull the trigger and find out... its not going to hurt anything...

I have a 30, use it on a bolt .223 with sub sonic ammo. Works well

All I have right now is two 30 caliber suppressors. I use them from 300 win mag to 223. I have no complaints but maybe I’m just easily impressed? I think you’re 6.5 will be perfect for a 22-250.

I agree with Kaleb. Should be a good match.
Now with even more aplomb

It'll work.
Any suppressor is better than no suppressor, to my way of thinking.
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

Depending on brand, you may be able to swap the end cap to a smaller opening.

Best answer is to pull the trigger and find out... its not going to hurt anything... Supressors are not legal in my stupid country, Spain, probably the only country in the European Union where they are not allowed. I go on a cull hunt in either South Africa or Namibia every year, and this is SA's turn. There, I have a suppressor which I used in my last hunt there. This year I want to take my 1:8" 22-250 loaded with 77 TMKs, therefore my question, to know whether I should buy a new one or simply use the 6,5`s. For some of your replies, it is clear to me that I will use it. Thank you!

I bought ten cheap Remington spiral-hole, radial brakes threaded 1/2-28 with a bore diameter of .308, for which Remington's labeling said "was suitable for calibers from 223 to 284" - I think they were intended for their ARs when produced. I put together a "first - rifle" 700 in 6.5 for a friend's son a couple of years back and during barrel work, had the muzzle threaded. Anyway, when we took the kid to the range for the first time, we ended up trying one of these and I was astounded at the difference it made both in recoil and muzzle jump. Having said that, I also admit that I'm not well versed in muzzle brakes but after this experience which could be just an isolated occurence, I'm becoming a lot more interested in using them in the future.
AKA The P-Man If you cherish your memories with kids, be a good role model . . . . so the RIGHT memories of you mean something to them.

Alvaro I was told by someone in the suppressor Industry that there is about a 7dB difference between using a .224 suppressor and a .30 cal suppressor on a .224 caliber rifle. I presume It would be less when shooting a 6.5 cal rifle with a 30 cal suppressor.
There are 2 rules to success:
1. Never tell everything that you know.

I have been running a SAS 6.5 Barricade on my 22-250 for several years and it works very well. My friend has a Hybrid and his .223 end cap will shoot up to 6.5, I see now they make a 223 and 6.5 end cap, be curious to see what the over bore is on the 223 now.

I think using a 30 cal can is probably 3-4 db extra on a 22 cal. It depends on the can. I wouldn’t worry about it. I have a tbac ultra 5 it’s a compact can for hunting. Not ultimate sound suppression.

I first bought a yhm .30 cal titanium, so I could as others said move it around on other calibers below .30. I Have used it on everything from .556 clear up to 300 ultra mag. I would tell my buddies not to get all caught up on decibel ratings. They aren’t gonna be movie quiet unless shooting subs. They key is they will be hearing safe to the shooter and in hunting situations confuse the animal as to where the shot came from. I know have 4 suppressors with more in the waiting game.
