I have a 1957 250f that’s had the buttstock replaced. The replacement has cut checkering annd an aluminum buttplate and I was wondering what it could have been on originally.

Early post mil gun. My Dad's 1963 F has cut checkering and an aluminum plate. Most were steel though. The DLs had the aluminum first I believe.

This rifle has sticky extraction with factory loads and less than max hand loads. The extractor gets a good grip on the rim and it’s a good pull on the lever to get it to slip off.

I’ve polished the chamber and cleaned barrel well plus soaked the chamber end in carb out. Im going to slug the barrel but I’m getting fed up and thinking of getting it rebored to 7mm-08.

Depending on the top of cut checkering, it could be a later 99C or 99CD buttstock as well.

The 1964 catalog says the 99F still had a steel buttplate in 1964, and that was the end of the 99F cut checkered stocks. But catalogs aren't always right.
