Red on top
Yellow in the middle
Green on the bottom
Don’t really need to see the color, just the location.

This. I'm not black/white color blind but I am blue/green and red/orange deficient - per MEPS so it kept me out of what I wanted to do.

It's the same except from left to right instead of top to bottom.

If the shade is sufficiently different, it's ok. If the shade is similar, it can be an issue. While one can go by the position, it is a bit difficult to know from a distance. What is worse is trying to read wiring diagrams or see orange target spotters. Red dot sights on a brown background are hard to see. I had to change the colors on my computer for Wordle, because I had trouble telling the difference with the colors they use.
I shot a few rounds of silhouette at a club where they had orange targets. When one of those landed in the grass, it may as well have been painted camo. I looked for one chicken for quite a while and finally found it when I stepped on it.
My wife constantly asks me if a certain color looks good on her. How the hell would I know?! Of course, it wouldn't matter if I could see the colors properly; I know it's a trap anyway.
In a very real sense we, the color blind, experience discrimination; nobody cares! GD

It somewhat depends upon the degree of color blindness and the hue of the lenses on the traffic light. For me, some are very easy to ascertain……others (though few) near impossible! I specifically remember one (for a turning lane) in SLC, it appeared to be completely different that what it was….darn near got me into a wreck!

Knowing the sequence of the colors can be a big help….Red on top, ect. Sideways (not often seen by me) can be confusing! memtb

I struggle with that on fall leaves too. It's about invisible to me - so I drill shoulders to make them drop right there.

Unless you are in Denver, they are the opposite. I went there for work back in the mid 90's. Several girls were there also working, I was the "driver" for them. Well, until I ran a couple red lights, green on top, red on bottom.

There is color blind, everything is gray (I think)
There is color deficient (as the Navy called it) where you mix up certain colors.
That's me. Kept me from Submarines.

Yup, looks brown to me when it's against a brown background. If it's wet I can see it because it's wet but if it's raining forget it.

Yeah, I'm the screwed up color type.
Classmate got a Mustang for graduation. Told him that's a beautiful black Mustang. He laughed!
It was a dark jade green.

Applied to an OTR driver. The DOT tests your color vision.
They gave me color dots that had numbers in closely related hues.
I couldn't find about half of them.
The DOT doctor grabbed the dots, threw them.on the desk and pulled out two balloons.
He held them up one at a time.
"What color is this?"
"It's red." (correct color)
What color is this?"
"That one's green." (correct color)
He threw the balloons back in the drawer and said, "You pass!"

Put together a tile mosaic as a vacation Bible school craft.
Everybody else's project was dark brown or dark purple.
Mine had tiles of both colors! 🤪
Once the different color tiles were pointed out, THEN I could see them.....barely!

I once had a student pilot who who had somehow passed all the flight physicals. We were airborne and the Fire Warning light illuminated on one of our engines. He couldn't see it no matter how often I prompted him to look. It was a false alarm, but upon landing, I had him tested by the flight surgeon. He never came back.

That might seem cruel, but you MUST be able to see red from green if you're going to fly.
