Wondering why the US would shoot down a balloon over Canada? Is Canadian Air Force not capable of doing this itself?

Wondered the same. Trudeau said he consulted with Biden and then US forces took the object down in CAN airspace. That didn't make sense to me

All I have to say is ABOUT TIME we work together.
Americans and Canadians have a long history of fighting together and friendship.
Our cultures have a lot of similarities, we are more alike then we are not. We have to watch each other's back like we did in WWII.
The winds of war are blowing, about time that everyone realizes that and we start working together to defeat the enemy!

From what I (think) I heard on tv...
These last two shoot downs were not balloons but were some kind of, as yet to be identified, unmanned aircraft from an as yet to be identified country.
Drones? Aliens? Chinkanese? Russian? North Korea? Iranian?

(Humour for you Canucks still clinging to patriarchal rule) This gentleman was my best friend, ever since I worked on his cattle ranch when I was 16 years old. His name was Howard Skouson Hicken, he passed in 2021 at 101 years old. He was a Captain Bomber Pilot in WWII. He won the Distinguished Flying Cross after he flew his crew over and bombed Germany in 32 of the deadliest bombing runs in aviation history. Memphis Belle only flew 25 in comparison. After he finished his bombing tour of duty in WWII, he flew Spitfires for the RAF. He then signed up to fly bombing runs over Japan, but just before he was about to go Truman intelligently ended the war by bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki with Atomic bombs. Pictures of Howard with his beautiful wife at 100 years old, 2nd picture of Howard with his crew, he is the 6'4" guy in the middle and with his squadron. Canadians have a lot of courage and strength, especially when we log onto this site hehehe. Just kidding you guys here are awesome and 24 hour Campfire RULES!
