Any suggestions on the best case for transporting bow, arrows, etc. on airlines? I have a bowhunt booked for South Africa in June. I have a compound bow I'm going to hunt with, and would like to put it in something with some chance it will survive the trip.

I use the SKB Double Bow case like the one in the following link. I only took one bow on my recent trip to Montana but I was able to put my arrow box and extra clothing in and around the bow. The case comes with TSA locks which means that the security folks will not have to cut your locks off to see what's inside. The case is very sturdy and has wheels and pull handle. Overall, I am happy with the case. SKB Bow Case at Bass Pro GK

This one has been to AK twice. I use it to transport both a rifle and bow, so it might be overkill if you are just taking a bow. SKB 2SKB-6002

I have an SKB double bow case which works awesome but do to some unfavorable logistics just acquired the 2SKB-4114A which works for up to 4 guns or 2 bows... big benny here is more room for gear and WHEELS!
Regardless of model, SKB has protected my gear on trips to Africa, Canada and all over the U.S. with no issues to date.

SKB Double. I tried a cheaper one the first trip and the airlines punched a hole it in. They still punched a hole in the SKB, but it was repairable with a little welding and black plastic for welding rod.
A few hints. Knock broadheads down, wrap a shirt or soft jacket around the string, pack some clothes in there to absorb some extra shock, use a TSA lock, Nothing Sharp. Things seem to move to the funniest places in airline travel

My SKB gun & bow cases have been across the country multiple times.
I have never once needed a repair.
