I have a 3-15 SWFA on one 300 WM and a 3-12 LRHS on another. They both work very well for all around big game hunting in varied cover and geographies.
Had a 3-9 SWFA on a lighter 300 WSM for awhile. Also had 6x in SWFA, Leupold, and Sightron on 300's through the years and never really felt like I was missing out on more X.
Mostly depends on what you like in a reticle.

A Schmidt & Bender 3x12x50 Klassik is going on mine to replace a Steiner Hunting Z 3.5x10x50 purchased in 1998.
BTW, those old Steiner Hunting Z scopes have outstanding Steiner glass with coatings, with the scope design being Steiner's but made by Leupold. At that time, it was brighter to my eyes than the Zeiss and Swaro scopes I compared it to. It is still one hell of a scope and is going on a .308.

Little limited on adjustment, but not that impactful on a flat shooting round.

Put a VX-6hd 3-18x44 on mine but can't say that here cause it isn't made in China or weights 3.8#s cause it says NF.
So, be 24hr correct and put a SwFA momo mofo on it. Good enough for throwing in the creek in Alaska, so it should work.

My current most used 300WM is a Sendero on it's 3rd barrel with a Leupold 6.5-20x40 Long Range (30mm), a scope they only made for a very short time but is my favorite

Leupold VX 5HD 3-15x44 Firedot. Contrary to the hater's opinions, it works the way it should.

I also like the Zeiss, I have one on my 300 WM and the other on a 7mm Mashburn, both are identical with adjustable turrets 44 mm and 4.5 X 14, a beautiful scope. On my 280 AI I have an older Leupold set up similar to the Zeiss. It was on the 300 for several years. I have had excellent performance from all of them.

I have had Leupolds of one kind or another on my 300s since the 1970s. Right now it is a 3-9 with dots from 200-600. For my needs it suits. Although I often had a 6.5 to 20 on it. My heavier one does have a 6.5-20.
