Bought a 47 Chief for $200 back in 68, I was 16. Kept it at a friends but my brother ratted me out and my father made me sell it. Shifter was on the right side, a Miller beer tap. Went like heck on the back roads. Dad did relent and let me buy a 67 Norton Atlas with hand clutch and foot shift. Indians were made about 15 miles from where I sit right now.

I've had two Harleys, but never an Indian. Seeing them seems pretty common now.

I never had an Indian, but my Dad did before I was born. We lived in the Canal Zone and he and three of his friends bought a crate of surplus military Scouts for ten cents a pound. His best friend was killed on it and that was it for his riding. He wouldn't let me get one, and I wasn't supposed to ride one, but of course I did. Once I was on my own fifty years ago I got my first. Have had many different ones since then.

I owned a 1937 Indian Jr scout, it ran, but I sold it to buy a 1940 Chief needed a total rebuild. Got it done but for putting it together, hurt my back had to have surgery, so I had to sell it. 1940 they only made 800-900 bikes most were made for police departments. 1st year for the big fenders, last year for the leave spring front end, 140 moh speedo, nickle Indian headress horn cover. Was a rare bike. And would be worth a lot now. LOGGAH on here owned and rode Indians, his brother still has a few.

I had a 2nd hand 70cc Indian dirt bike when I was a teenager. I think it was a around a 1971. I learned a lot about wrenching, trying to keep that little heap making blue smoke.

Bought a 47 Indian Chief in 1989 for $50 had been in a barn for 40 years...form the same barn got a 55 Chevy Panel truck for $200....

Spent 2 years rebuilding the Indian....biggest job was rebuilding the engine every part was there just needed to be cleaned and re-painted or chrome plated...sold it in 1996 for $30'000 to a collector....

Panel truck chopped the roof 8" tubbed the rear end put a Chevy 350 in it with a turbo....was a nice day driver until 2018....

Always looking for a project....been restoring and modifying Hot Rods and bikes for close to 50 years....

I used to know a guy who did. He had it restored to 'better' than original.. He'd unload it just long enough to take the First Prize trophy home, then load it up and go... I think he died a couple/three years ago.. I wonder whatever happened to that bike.......

In-line air-cooled four, front to back, not transverse. Forty years ago a local would ride one on weekends to the bar I hung out at. I never did talk to him about it, wish I had.

LOVE motorsickles! Won't have one!
My wife loves motorcycles......and wanted us to have motorcycles.

When I drive and get tired, I get sleepy. From time to time, I'll nod once or twice before realizing i need to pull over.
Not a good I-deer on a motorsickle!

Sometimes, you just gotta recognize your shortcomings! LOL!
Why buy a $5,000 Gibson guitar if you can't play like Chet Atkins? It's the player, not the guitar!
