Geez, the K was such a high end model that the sights were all probably more requested than cataloged items.

According to Stroebels book the high end Model "K" used the same sights as the early Model 1899 A Standard Rifle, (Depending on Year Mfg.), with optional sights listed. Too many to list. Not sure of this accuracy. I was surprised to read this.

Lyman 29 1/2 tang (correct answer is Lyman 1A - Rick99) which was replaced in the last few years with the Redfield 70LH. Rear sight was usually a Marbles 95.

Rick, I have Lyman 1A (or 2A) down for the vast majority of 99K's that I researched. That's what's in the catalogs as well.
25 99K's: ====== 19 w/Lyman 1A or 2A 1 w/Lyman 30 1/2 1 w/Redfield 70LH 4 with no tang sight.

When I purchased my 1931 99 K it wore a Redfield 70 receiver sight, which was obviously incorrect for that vintage rifle. (Stroebel says Redfield introduced the Model 70 in 1940. We know Savage changed the RS sight from the Lyman 30 1/2 to the Redfield 70 in 1940. Whether the Redfield 70 was available earlier, I don' know.) So, I said to myself, that's an easy fix, and I bought a Lyman 1A. When I went to mount it, I discovered that the imprint in the wood behind the tang did not match the base of the Lyman 1A. So, I took out a grey rat Lyman 30 1/2 that I had in my sight box, and lo and behold, the base matched the imprint in the wood behind the tang. Subsequently, I purchased a better Lyman 30 1/2, and that is what is on the rifle now. The original sight easily could have been a Lyman 29 1/2 - no way to tell.
Just as an aside, the letter from JTC for my rifle does not mention anything about the tang sight, the sling eyes on my rifle (which were a factory option and look correct to me), nor the 410 barrel that came with it with the identical Style 8 barrel address which indexes perfectly.
P.S. For you data guys, if you are interested the serial no. is 337780.

About half of all the 99K's out of the 25 I looked up have sling eyes. I don't think they were standard, but I think it was fairly common to have them added. Jaaack, yours is the one 99K in my data that had a Redfield. The 410 barrel could be ordered separate, not sure if they'd have recorded a work order number to fit a 410 barrel? The one 99K with a Lyman 30 1/2 was a 1939 99K, a late one. But I have 3 with even higher serial numbers than that with Lyman 1A's.

You are correct. Lyman 1A is correct. The 2A in threaded for an aperture. Thanks. Been a long day.
