I'm getting a new aortic valve soon.
Anyone here have any aftermarket heart parts?

I have a synthetic aorta section... I had a birth defect in mine they did not find till I was 42... they had to cut it out and replace it with a synthetic piece... not actually in the heart but close to it.
If you want to feel better about it... there are over 182,000 heart valve replacements done every year in the US alone... I think this means they have a pretty good track record on the surgeries

I have had a low heart rate for years. When I had a rate of 28 for a while the docs decided I needed a pace maker. rate is now maintained at 60 for a low and 75 for a high. I dont notice any difference and now wish I had not done it. I started having Afib problems soon after it was installed.

No new parts here so far. Great advancements have been made in aortic valve replacement. It usually goes very well. Hope you get good results. You may feel noticeably better with the new one in place. Will you be able to play the piano afterwards? ðŸ¤

I got a leaky bicuspid aortic valve swapped out with a mechanical valve in 2002. The sales job was mechanical would last forever, whereas a pig valve would need replaced in 15 or 20. Well, my heart doc now says I'll probably need another change-out down the road anyway. Sad thing is they can now do transcatheter valve replacements but they'll have to crack me again to get the old one out. Ain't complaining though; livin' still beats dyin'

They replaced my mitral valve with a pig valve four years ago...just one problem, every time I smell bacon, I get a hard on.
Never try to teach a pig to sing...
...it wastes your time and annoys the pig!
