This is not a criticism of CAT or DFC. I have been in enough ego driven pissing matches myself to know I am not above this stuff anymore than anyone else.

Neither fellow routinely speaks about how much money they have. They are only doing so now because they have both lost restraint over their egos, which happens to all of us from time to time. Since this is now about ego and restraint is not much of a player, anything that allows one to claim superiority over the other will be bragged about. This is human nature, and we are all guilty of it.

CAT and DFC are not judging folks by how much money they make. Now they are judging each other by how much each claims to have, which is the whole idea behind the bet.

I think there are two equally erroneous concepts about wealth. The first is that "rich" people are better than "poor" people, and the second is that "poor" people are better than "rich" people. Each side has it's own rationale for their resepctive positions, and each position is based on pride and ego.

The only thing we can say for sure about a wealthly person.......................is that they are wealthy. Wealthy people come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. Some are indeed "better" people............by that I mean, more disciplined, more skilled at business or investing, or are excellent listeners and followers of those who are skilled at business or investing. Some wealthy people are just lucky, some are wealthy due to inheritence. Some wealthy people are of the highest integrity and character, some are low life sleezeballs.

I don't think we should envy people because of their wealth, nor should we be critical of them just because they have wealth. Wealth is a non-issue in terms of character, and character is what counts.

I do know this, if I personally were better at handling my own money, I'd have more than I have now. For me, the current state of my finances has to do with the level of discipline I have. Of course, so does my success in hunting, trumpet playing, quality of my work, staying in shape, etc. My guess is both DFC and CAT have exercised good discipline in their finances, have skill in such areas, and maybe have been a little lucky form time to time. Of course, skill and luck are not nearly as important as discipline.

Ok, but what about the 30-06? If you sold yours I've got a bone stock Ruger Model 77 MkII, stainless steel, boatpaddle stock, had about a hundred rounds thru it that I'd take $600.00 for with a Tasco scope or $700.00 without the scope. Fist my disclaimer--I am not taking sides in this issue, just watching. I personally am hoping for reason to prevail and for both guys to gracefully back down.

From what I can tell, WB was in first talking about how DFC makes million dollar bets, and then T LEE was next when he said about DFC: "Also, I doubt he has the resources to cover a nickle and dime bet, let alone a substantial one."

The insults DFC directed at folks were not because of the economic status of his opponents, but because they were all engaged in an ego-driven pissing match, and in such a match anything is fair game including a person's net worth. Folks are being judged by what they are posting.
