Probably one of my most memorable Alaskan big game kills was with a Ruger #1 375 H&H.
I was alone and searching for a easier to handle size Bull Moose for winter meat. Found just what I was looking for and got a 15 yard shot. Lifted all 4 feet off the ground and he was down like a rock.

All 4 of his feet were off the ground, not 4 feet up into the air silly.
