that would have come home with me without question, but price would depend on condition,
norm Close to 10 years ago, Nan and I were at a local gunshow and I spied an 1899B in 303 Sav. As I recall it was $875. I looked it over and noticed a couple things that I wish weren't there. I made a phone call to a friend and he already knew everything about the gun. He mentioned that if it was any other caliber than .303 Sav, it would be north of a grand. I offered allot less and he took my offer. I shot two beautiful bucks with it on the same day. Both 100 yard + shots from a rest in a tree stand. In 2010 a member mentioned to me he had some rifles for sale. I was already in his home state so he offered to make a 3 hour drive to come to me. He had 4 1899 B's and an EG in .243. I grabbed to .243, and 1899B in 30.30, and 25-35. At the time I just couldn't bring myself to buy them all. The seller had no problem. He took the 38-55, and 32-40 home with him but I said if they didn't sell, I would buy them "later". I snoozed but THIS time it worked out. I bought the other two a year or so later. I got lucky this time. The price for the others? ALLOT more than the .303 Sav, but if I did it again I would still grab "em.

Since the post mentioned 26" octagon barrel and the price of a 32-40 I seized the opportunity.

What would the price of a 90% 1899B in 32-40 be right now?

I've never actually seen one in 32-40 that I can recall.
It's just one of only 3 chamberings the 99 was offered in legal for deer here now with the new centerfire laws passed last year (we had previously been shotgun, ML, or handgun only) so I want one.

Winchester appropriated them later and just had to stick their own name on them.

Yep, 32-40, 38-55, 375 Win.
Got the other 2 covered now but not in a 99, hence the want for a 32-40 1899.

I have an engraved 1906 32-40 half octagon with the barrel shortened to 21”. I think it might be a leader grade. It has the right engraving and the forearm wood is deluxe with what I think is the right checkering for leader based on David and Rory’s books. The buttstock has been replaced with a non checkered perch belly pistol grip that has been messed up by someone inlaying their initials in it. I’d like to cover the initials with a medallion; any suggestions 1 1/8” c 3/8 to cover? One of these days I might figure out how to post pics.

Iv never owned a rifle in 32-40, think I'd like to one day tho! I walked into the LGS about 20-25 years ago. The owner proudly told me he got in a Marlin 1893 in 32-40. He wanted $500. Now he knew this was the type rifle that would tempt me. But when he walked away his brother told me that he had bought it earlier that day off a little old widow and only gave her $50 for it. That didn't set right with me so I walked away. That's the closest I came to owning a 32-40

Yep, agree with FUG1899...a lot is exactly the number that was in my head, too 🤣
In today's market I'd imagine several thousand for that kind of condition.
