Lurker does not participate in normal forum discourse, but he's out there...watching, reading every message. Generally, he is quite harmless. In fact, his silence usually reflects a natural reticence rather than any sinister motives. He is content to let the other people haul the conversational freight and, if a fight breaks out he will observe quietly. Occasionally, however, some mysterious impulse drives him to de-lurk and attack. Other Warriors regard his unexpected assault as an ambush, and invariably turn on him savagely. But Lurker seldom sticks around to fight it out, rather, after a brief exchange, he slips away, never to be heard from again.

Well, as long as you're white... Some of this was pretty childish, some downright obscene. But some of it was absolutely brilliant. Especially the stuff I wrote. Come on guys, the man has a point. I think the old saying, "You'll catch more flies with honey than with viniger" might apply to the way he stated his case though. I hadn't thought about it before, but kids proubably do read this from time to time. It wouldn't hurt to tone down the language a little. Never the less, this guy does not want to be judged, yet he judges. He doesn't like foul language, yet he uses it. I don't think anyone posted here just to keep it going. This thread was long dead, till he let off his scattergun condemnation.

First you state your new here ... you've been a member for 10 months .... then in your second post you tell us you like to read and don't post much (which is fine) but you met some great people here ... of course you have ... there are a lot of great people here .... but you're not new here!

You can't understand why the webmaster would allow this continue ... because Rick runs a darn fine site here ... and allows the members to air out their differences ... to accomplish this means that the members are allowed to express themselves, in their own words, not ones the webmaster (in your opinion) should censor. Censorship is wrong!!! But that is what you elude to in your first post ... PERIOD. True some of the posts here may have been childish, immature to say the least ... but being in America those posters had the right to say it. Should children be allowed to read it .... NO, I agree they shouldn't. But that is the SOLE responsibility of the child's parents. Parents should be monitoring what their child is looking at on the web. It is NOT the responsibility of the webmaster to CENSOR material posted here because of some parent's child is not being monitored. That's the Hillary camp and I don't pitch a tent there. Rick has his rules for posting here and we abide by them. Those that don't are asked to leave and not return. Your inital post supported censorship plain and simple! It was your stance that the webmaster here should censor the material and do the job of a parent is what I considered idiotic! Your support of censorship is why I suggested you also support suppressing the constitution.

It is your opinion that there are better sites around the web for your children to post on and read. Fine then that is where they should go, to the place that their parent finds acceptable. Just like some hunting camps are places children shouldn't be ... there are some theads here that fit the bill also. I have looked in several places on the web, and this is by far (in my opinion) the best hunting and shooting forum out there. I have learned a lot here about many subjects.

I'm a graduate student ... so I get paid very little .. but if can score a little extry cash using a crystal ball ... I might give it a shot. My hobbies (other than my chemistry research) are my girlfriend, my dog, hunting & shooting, and golf. In that order.

I typically don't make posts similar to my previous post, you have to really spark me up ... BTW, you did. I strongly feel that what a child learns and is exposed to is the responsibilty of the parents, not our teachers, government, or local webmaster. To lay that responsibity on the shoulders of others is one of the things really wrong with our country's liberal views. People need scapegoats to cover their inabilities to be proper parents.

I'm quite sure me calling you and/or your views idiotic has little bearing where you are going to spend your advertising dollars. Your decision was made when you wrote your first post on this thread.

Just to clear the air, I have no animosity or ill feelings towards you, I don't know you. But, I don't appologize for my previous post and the suggestions it implied.

No, the rifle didn't sell. Coworker doesn't feel like lowering the price so I don't feel like pushing it anymore. No offers came in either. Maybe it'll be reposted after he finds out what the local shops will give him on a trade.

Too bad, maybe he will decide to trade it or something. Good luck to him anyway. I know what I'll take for something of mine or keep it.

Well put. Couldn't agree more. Personally, I try to keep my language at a level I wouldn't mind my mother reading, but that's just my policy, wouldn't want it to be mandatory. In the heat of battle I may have stepped over the line, but I don't think so. I would like to point out, some of the kids who read this, supervised or not, are new shooters, or at least interested in shooting, and it wouldn't hurt to put our best foot forward. I still wonder about our new friends "white" remark. Certainly, he wouldn't want his children to read that. Frankie, you still out there?
