Dinorwic Lake is a large freshwater lake located in northwestern Ontario, Canada, approximately 300 kilometers northwest of Thunder Bay. The lake is situated in the rugged and remote Canadian Shield region and covers an area of approximately 276 square kilometers.

Dinorwic Lake is known for its excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for walleye, northern pike, and lake trout. The lake is also a popular destination for boating, canoeing, and kayaking, as it is surrounded by pristine wilderness and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

In addition to its recreational opportunities, Dinorwic Lake has a rich history. The lake was once home to a bustling mining town called Dinorwic, which was founded in the early 1900s and grew to a population of over 2,000 people at its peak. The town was centered around a large gold mine and included a hospital, school, post office, and several businesses. However, the town was largely abandoned by the mid-1900s, and today only a few ruins and abandoned buildings remain.

Today, Dinorwic Lake and the surrounding wilderness are protected by several conservation areas and parks, including Wabakimi Provincial Park and the Dinorwic Lake Conservation Reserve. These protected areas ensure that the natural beauty and resources of the area will be preserved for future generations to enjoy.

The missionary, Henry Johns was working on the reserve, and died, I think at the age of forty.
