What have you seen those RMEF’s sell for. I’ve been curious but haven’t seen any listing online with a sold price.

Of the others CE and PE's I have some and sold some the most valuable seems to be the 284's in PE.

If you ever decide to let go of any I’m sure I would be in the market. One CE is good for me but what a site it would be if I could have all three calibers in both the PE and the DE. One could only dream right?

There were 5 or 6 PE’s, DE’s or CE’s along with 3 or 4 Tue engraved guns at a local shop a few years ago. A member here bought two of the Tue guns. Didn’t pay attention, or even bother to look at the various E’s as they were just too gaudy.

You would need more than 3 of each PE's and DE's to have all of
the variations

No, there only 4 engraved models from after 1960. 99DE 99PE 99CE 99RMEF BUT.. If you ever decide to let go of any I’m sure I would be in the market. One CE is good for me but what a site it would be if I could have all three calibers in both the PE and the DE. One could only dream right? Just having all 3 chamberings in the 99DE/99PE models wouldn't give you all the different types. I'm not sure anybody even knows all the different variations in the engraving, the finish, there's even some blued ones. So 3 for each of those is a start. More of a start than most of us will ever achieve..

The engraving on the PE's and DE's vary quite a bit. We think they were engraved by a number of different engravers in Germany and some were possibly engraved in Japan. There is no documentation on this so it would probably be impossible to acquire one by each engraver. John Allen collected a number of the blued receiver rifles and Brent Geistweidt has them now. He isn't likely to part with any of them.

Looks like I have a long road of debt ahead of me! I have seen the different variations of the engraving and the blued receivers but I have not seen any other calibers. I am still very green to the 99s. Learning a lot here from you guys. What other calibers have you guys seen in the post 60s engraved models.

Just the catalogued ones... well, there's at least one 250 Savage that I know of. But 99DE/99PE in 243/308/284, 99CE and 99RMEF in 300 Savage (one 99CE in 308). Possibly a couple late, unusual 99CE's were done??
The 99DE/99PE are the ones with slight variations on the engraving patterns and finish depending on when and who did the engraving.

We have the name of one German engraver who might have been involved. But it was multiple people, so don't know most. Don't know any in Japan.

Ralph McElwain had the factory produce the 99CE in 308. He's a big fan of the 308. The rifle is shown in detail in the engraving book on pages 289 and 290. The serial # is AS0226. he was selling his gun stuff when I was there in Sep 2000 so he may not have it now.

Was the "one" 99CE in 308 serial numbered x of 1000 or something else? It is pictured in the back pages of David's Book #2. Ralph (FFL dealer) bugged Savage till they finally gave in, replaced the barrel with a .308 and shipped him AS0226.
