Case capacity of 30-40 Krag is 58 gr H20, 308 Winchester is 53.5 gr.

Krag is loaded to less than 40,000CPU, 308 Win loaded to 53,000CPU.

Wondering what pressure and velocity 220gr Krag loads would produce in first generation Remington 600 rifle in 308 Winchester with 18 inch barrel?

Anyone got access to Quickload to help? I am assuming nothing here, just asking.

Thanks,
Ted

From experience... all day long...

My loads for my 1898 Krag Cavalry Carbine uses 30 grains of 4198, and any bullet weight in 30 caliber I've ever chose to shoot in it...over the last 25 years or so...

308 will take that all day long... so has the 30/40 Krag Brass.. Rem and Winchester...

Hasn't phased my Krag either...

its also the same load I use in my several 8mm Mausers.... both are giving me 30/30 speeds with the finished ammo.

occasionally I will substitute RL 7 with a 30 grain charge or 25 grains of SR 4759, back when it was readily available...

Indeed.... smile

Obviously, the smaller case volume will result in higher pressures and velocity.

Found a bunch of threads with 220s in the 308Win. Now just comparing them with 30-40 Krag Loads.

Appreciate your concern,
Ted
