Still looking for a lightweight/compact 338 cannon. Have a build in mind but still hoping something is out there that fits the bill. Prefer something custom with a short/mid length barrel in a sporter style package to handle the 250 grain weight class. ππππ

Hey Mitch, I'm sending you a PM.
I'm here to increase my social credit score and rub elbows with some of the highest rollers on the internet.

You don't want anything above a 338 federal with a short barrel. YOU might be alright with a 22 inch barrel but anything less is just a powder flash .

A 338-06 will get you more mag capacity, but you will lose some power. I am very happy with mine.

Not to ruffle feathers, but nothing about a savage rifle interests me. At all. To each their own though.
Thanks for all the messages, still on the hunt. 20-22 inch 338 custom is what Iβm hunting for. Not a factory gun.
If I build one, I have already spoken to Lane Precision (one of the best smiths ever in my opinion) about rebarreling my 340 Weatherby with a 20 inch, so the build is lined up if I donβt find something interesting.

Pick up a new Weatherby .338 RPM with 18 inch barrel. I love that gun and itβs #1 on my list for a factory gun. Just no real speed out of that set up after talking to an owner of one who is trying everything to get it moving.
