They have always been used a lot for tracking in the snow in New England- the semi autos tend to freeze up if they get wet, which isn't hard to do with snow coming out of the pines onto you all the time. Never got so I really liked them myself.

Hell, I dropped my 94 trapper in the snow one time climbing a hill in the Adirondacks. Cold ass day. By the time I finished the drive, I couldn’t open the action to unload gun. Shot in to a tree to break it loose. Any gun can freeze.
