HS, I’m assuming he left out the G; there were no DBM pre 64 I’m aware of from the factory; and the 284 was commercialized in 1963.

Rockman, Assuming I’m correct that you left out the G in the sn then that will be a classic CRF made in 1994. It’s a pretty rare bird. Supposedly either 90 or 200 made in that chambering depending on who you listen to. Most sell in the 2K plus range.

Geez, I remember holding one that was brand new in the mid-90's at a local gun shop. Now I wish I had bought it.
I am always looking for factory wood stocks!

.284 DBM's are rare indeed compared to my .30-06 Classic DBM. That said, the DBM's were only made for one year out of 3-4 years production with CRF (1994?) Too bad my rifle is viewed as a bastard child in the M70 world!
PS: don't lose your mags... they're pricey!

Too bad my rifle is viewed as a bastard child in the M70 world! No, those would be the push feed 70s.

I know, I already have an extra (was like $110.). I've got two extras now. And I thought $60 for one 15 years ago was highway robbery! The third was put away as original. But the first two had springs break. So the gunsmith resprung them with I think Remington <gasp> springs of a different design. I use the rebuilt ones now to get beat up.

Having the DBM and CRF and only being produced a single year... I wonder if my rifle might have any future collector value. There's also another one locally for sale in 300win. Need to find out if it's CRF however. Price is decent.

I have a classic dbm I bought new in 1994. It's a 7mm RM. This thread has me wondering its value.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

There's an original mag(new) on GB right now for $115. Since I already have a spare, would it be stupid to buy another? I have been known to do many stupid things in my 74 years!

Back in the late 90s, I held a brand new M70DBM in 284 WIN in my grubby little paws for a few minutes. Seemed like such an odd gun and didnt consider buying it. Dont remember what the price was.

I'd say it's not a stupid buy, especially since your rifle is so rare. I can't imagine there's many of the .284 mags around. Do you actually hunt with this rifle? Oh WTH, you only live once, right?
