Ok, so thanks to Seafire and his Blue Dot Reduced Load Data, I got to where I wanted to be smile

Using Starline brass and 250g XTP's with CCI 450 Mag SR primers. COL 2.071 This seats the bullet just below the cannelure. With a taper crimp. Ruger American Ranch Rifle, about 16inch barrel.
17g = 1226 fps
16g = 1159 fps
15g = 1071 fps
14g = 965 fps
13g = 866 fps
12 = 776 fps
11 = 675 fps
10 = 601
9 = 449 fps

I finished up 100 rounds with 14.9g BlueDot, this should keep it around 1050 fps or so.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this. But I made a few range trips, and finished all my testing with a suppressor/silencer fitted to the Ruger. The silencer increases the velocity slightly. Ended up with 14g of BlueDot. This gave me a 4 shot group average of 1058fps and standard deviation SD=7. This was on a cold bore, group was 1.25 inches at 50 yards.

I also tried some Trail Boss powder. Long story short, 12g of TrailBoss was the best at 1020fps and SD=21. Group size 1.5 inches at 50 yards.

I also fired 3 factory rounds of Hornady Black Ammo with 250g FTX at 2218fps average, and SD=1.7 Group= .5 inches.

Hope this helps smile

I have been using TrailBoss for over 6 years .....Cutting Edge Bullet Handgun 240 gr. Raptor with a tip added 1025 fps with 12 gr. of TrailBoss....
Maximum distance I will shoot a buck is 70 yards I've shot several farthest one went is around 50 yards....shot a few that other deer with then didn't even spook....
I have done extensive testing in wet newspapers....beyond 80 yards CEB bullets don't expand reliably and I will not take a shot that far.....

Trail Boss is the best powder that I've used....hope they get it back in production very soon....I only have 6 cans left....

tag for future reference, good info here;
I struck up a conversation with Parker bullets about using their jacketed muzzleloader bullets in the 450 Bushmaster. They've done a bunch of load development and hunting, with great success. I didn't ask about sub-sonic loads, but I'd bet they've done some testing.
