Ruger made some M77 458 win mags with Factory Circassian walnut stocks. Do any of the Ruger
Experts here know a serial Number range on these rifles???? I’m pretty sure by the look of my Ruger M77 458 stock that I have one but I’d like to be sure.
Anyone???

One reference I have says the Model 77 RS .458 WinMag AFRICAN was offered first in 1976,
with steel floorplate and trigger guard, " 'Circassian' walnut stock -- actually French walnut."

My Ruger M77 RS .30-06 "Round Top" was made in 1981, according to that.
In 1982 I traded my Mahlin thutty-thutty on it, and paid a little boot.
I still have that Ruger, love those Rugers.
No bad barrel on that one, still a bugholer.

My Ruger TS 458WM DOM is 1978. Nice rifle in great condition, plain but very sturdy walnut stock. It’s the original M-77 ‘hybrid’ action, PF with full length claw extractor, integral Ruger scope ring bases.
It’ll make the trip to Zim with me this summer and will go up for sale when I get back. Too many 45 cal DGRs so had some tough choices to make.

Decided I’ll convert my TS 458 WM from PF to CRF. Looks like both action (new blade ejector slot and assembly cuts) and bolt body (lower lip removal, deactivation or removal of plunger ejector) will be needed.
Based on initial test with a Hawkeye African bolt in the TS action, the magazine box, rail configuration, and ramp will work as CRF. Timing of feeding with CRF capture work quite well. Will take some measurements when the new parts needed arrive. A project for Fall/Winter 2023.

I just bought one of these yesterday and per that chart it’s a 1979 as the serial number is 74-451xx. Can’t wait to get it and work up a load for elk and bears.
Didn’t need it but it should be fun.
