No Costco booze in Utah.
I am somewhat familiar with the regions of Scotch: Highlands, Speyside, Lowlands, Campbeltown, Islay and Islands. I have tried an Islay or two and was deeply impressed with the smoky peatiness. Highlands seems to be at the other end of the scale.
A glass of Scotch is my Sunday drink. A bottle lasts me a few weeks. Lagavullin 16 yr is my favorite Islay, but its spendy so I may get only a bottle a year. Speyside is fairly similar to Highland. Just finishing a bottle of Lagavulin 16, and can say I prefer Ardbeg 10 for less money. Win win.

Another vote for Glenfiddich. Was my friend and brother's fave. 15 year. Might have to pick a bottle up soon. He passed a few days after his 71st birthday. Coming up soon.

A trick I use is that if I have guests over the first two I pour are 12-year-old Glenmorangie, then straight to the Bar Scotch since your taste buds won't recognize the difference anymore.
KB Maybe for some guests. Well OK, so I should have been more specific lol. If it's a client that puts 100K+ in my bank account every year then they can drink the entire bottle. If it's my brother, he only gets the bar scotch, if it's a gal that loves scotch, she can have as much as it takes to get her to disrobe lol KB

My son brought back a bottle of Dahlwinnie single malt scotch back from Scotland when he visited that distillery, it is absolutely amazing, my favorite brand.

I drank JW Black Label for years and thought that was good enough. Then I worked my way up the colors up to Blue and I thought hmm, better.
Then I got a bottle of MacAllen 12 yr sherry cask and was impressed. I started drinking other single malts of increasing quality like Glendronach 15, Aberlour A'Bunnadh, Clynelish 14, and there is no going back to blended.

I drink Glenlivet single malt. It is so smooth that I can't tell the difference between 8 years and 15 years. Glenlivet 12 is a good entry level single malt. I usually have a bottle in my cabinet. It is a good daily drinker.

So for many years, I drank blended Scotch and was quite happy with it. Couldn't "get" the fascination with single malts.
And then I bought a bottle of Glenmorangie 10-yr. Oh, my.
Then I bought Glenmorangie 12. Oh, MY!
I was wrong.
It's right near $60 a bottle here, but it's worth it. My partner's father in law was scottish. On a visit he gifted me with a bottle made in his town. it was like drinking honey liquer as best as i could describe. zero bite and bottle didnt last too long. amazing stuff. by the way he told me how to pronounce it properly. it is glenmorangy the way we write. like gy = 'jee' at the end. jeewiz

I like single malts, Glenlivet 12 is a good, solid one with everything I want in a scotch and nothing I don’t. Amazing, the number of variations out there these days. I bet the local liquor store has 200 single malts.
The best I ever had was a 30 year old Macallan, just an amazing experience. Saw some locally recently for over $3000 a bottle. I had no idea at the time what the stuff cost.

Scotch.....nope I can always go back for another bourbon.  I even like "bad" bourbon.
